Excellent work, I love the Fish models. You are a legend sir.
Absolutely quality work from you again. That detail is so impressive.
I love the way you’ve unwrapped that sub thingy. ![]()
Those fish are mad…
The models and textures are fantastic but what impresses me just as much is the tightly packed UVW and normal maps. Wow, that has to be 98% coverage at least. It must take the mind of a genius puzzle maker to figure out that kind of tight formation. I’m inspired to work twice as hard when packing my own UV maps. Great work! Five stars from me.
Beautiful Stuff , Cool Idea and great execution.

Nice work! Very interesting and consistent style. Are you doing the high-res first and then the low res or the other way around?
cheers
Really impressive man, texturing is out standing
wot were the hi res models render with?
thanks you guys so much for your kind words. i’m really glad you liked the work i did on this project, it was done under very tight deadlines and was an amazing effort by the whole team at whatif productions.
as for my process:
i model in silo and 3ds max, i build the low res model first, then i build from the low res the hi res. then i tune the low res to match the hi res more and do uv’s. i’ve used kaldera and max 7 to generate normal maps.
finally for those images, i used max 7 to render, it has a stock normal map type now for the material and i used a reasonably simple 3 point lighting solution.
thanks again everyone for your kind words.
take care

WOW!
Awesome work! Congrats on front page! Well deserved for clean and beautiful modeling and texturing!
Perfect! Glad this got plugged… had my fingers crossed
I do have OOOONNNEEE small crit though… so small, its barely worth mentioning…
On the little fishie’s UV sheet: Theres a tonnnnn of empty space. I would have preferred seeing the fins made even bigger on the UV sheet (even if it means disproportionate density ont he model)… No one would notice, and you could have had more detail in the fins…
Like I said… SMALL crit
Looks great
Excellent work sir, one question: is that box modelling, ply modelling (as in you started off with a plane), or …? thanks.
keep it up ![]()
Thats looking awesome Kuman!! Great work!
I especially love the high rez stuff (I love everything in your post though).
I also work in the gaming industry, and by the looks of your UV unwraps, I can understand how much of a pain in the ass it can be…especially when meshes like yours contains enough detailed and semi detailed parts. It the part I hate the most about unwrapping and textuing things like that… getting all the unwrapped peices to fit nicely together is the texture layout.
In any case, great work man! That just rocks!
Cheers,
NRG
Dude you are SICK!! I l0ove the work that you do. it is so inspiring. i can honestly say, though it hurts to say it, that i wana b like you!! u have got maaad skills. iv been trying to replicate your shiromiya model at home for a personal learning project, and it is nowhere near as good.
anyway dont stop!!!
