Game Art Comp #9: Oryx - American Indian Warrior

#2

Ya, the oryx isn’t doing it for me, think im gonna do a griffon.

#3

Don’t make me hurt you.

#4

Alright, I have taken everyone’s death threats into consideration, and the oryx is looking like a nice topic after all.

   Heres the concept.

#5

dude that is cool as hell

#6

cool choice…but please choose a tribe…

nothing makes native americans madder than mashing up all kinds of very distinct heritage together as one…

what you got is the comings of a good plains indian…now pick a tribe.

just a suggestion.

#7

With a few changes, I think i’ll have him be from the Navajo tribe.

#8

Started modeling the head. Crits and comments are mandatory! Please :D.

I like what you have so far, I do however think you have too many polies in the eyeball. For such a small area of the character I don’t think you need so many polies in the eyeball. If it’s only a placeholder then ignore my rash comments.

#10

War Destroyer:
Yes, it is just a place holder =). Thanks for the comment.

#11

Here is a tiny update. Added the ears, and made some fixes on the head. C&C welcome.

Looking great… The ears seem a little on the flat side, make them rounder… His lower jaw should be porpotional to the size of his upper jaw as well… .A little too thin… Good job so far!

#13

Proudclod:
Now thats what i like to see =). If I understand you correctly, you are talking about the jawline being too thin?

#14

Another minor update, though there is more to crit on. Basically modeled the torso and fixed more things with the head if i caught them.

   Well, here they are.

looking good so far, how about a wire? and also it would be nice if you get rid of the black background to critique the work better

#16

Alrighty. Got the main layout done. Still have to go back and fix a few things (the legs are bugging me). Im going to do the tail over again as well. Anything else anyone notices please let me know :).

it’s looking good, try to put a little more muscles indians where full of them, i guess beacause of the rough life.

I can’t wait to see the progress

#18

Alrighty, done modeling him I think. Now, on to texturing! I have had very little experience texturing, so this will be good practice. Always wanted to try out alpha mapping:D.

dacheese: I will be trying to add the muscles in the texture.

Not bad at all for a start. Maybe the eye should be a little bigger?
