Game Art Comp 8: Shocker - Spiderman

#5

Good job ElysiumGX!
I like the proportions and the use of your geometry. Not too much detail on his face but the model doen’st seem to need it anyway. Keep working and good luck!

#6

the proportions look great. very superheroish

#7

looking good u could tidy up a bit og the poly flow and it will also save some tri’s and enable u to add more detail later on

#8

Thanks. Here’s an update. I worked on the shoulders and biceps. Took away lots of small details to save polys. Someone reminded me to add ear bumps for the mask.

Down to 2368 polygons. I can finish working on the edge flow tonight and start mapping.

#9

looks great, you got it down to 2368 triangles? or polygons? Im confused

#10

Sorry:). I always say polygons when I mean triangles. Even tho I design in polygons, or quads, or faces, whatever the hell you wanna call them. Bad habit from hanging around Polycount. Kinda like how people say skinning when they mean texturing, but it also means the skin modifier in 3dsmax.

2368 Triangles.

#11

np heh, I was tired when I posted that, I just wanted to make sure lol

#12

I am so glad you lost the short shorts. I just can’t be afraid of a guy in those.

#13

I know. A male supervillain terrorizing a city in short shorts is shocking enough. Damn the 70’s! I think Marvel have gone with this style lately, and I’d rather use it as well. It’s suppose to be an armored suit, not a fashion statement.:scream:

#14

Nice geometry - really neat and all the polys are where they should be and the muscle definition is good - its a shame really, cos the design youre working from is pretty crap - he should be called matress man!
As you can tell, im not a big fan of american comics  - ill cut the fella some slack though - it was the 70’s after all…

#15

Do you have a smoothshaded picture to show?
It would be interesting to see.

#16

Sure.

I’m busy trying to get the texture finished before Sunday. The deadline is coming fast. I’m not a great texture artist, so I’m trying to get the UVmapping done ASAP. Mapping in Wings3D isn’t fully developed…but can accomplish what I need quicker than any other program I’ve tried.

#17

I dunno, I’d be kinda freaked out if attacked by a guy wearing hot pants. Makes you figure he’s got a moustache under that mask, and a construction worker friend. Not the type I’d want jumping me in a dark alley…

Great model, BTW!! Looking forward to seeing how you “skin” this one!

#18

Lol! - he’s still got yellow matress padding / boiler insulation for skin though!
I wish you luck on making him look evil

#19

ElysiumGX very clean modeling dude this is the sign of a true game modeler, A thought --> yeah I miss this guy from the older comic books and sega games, ah he is a villin!?.. but I wish you luck on making him wicked  I’ll keep posted.

#20

This is great man, AWESOME! I hope you the texture does this justice.

#21

Just a little update on the texturing. I don’t claim to be a texture artist…at all. :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel kinda stupid. I accidently mapped the area for the eyes upside down. :banghead: So I’ll have to fix that before I give him eyes. IF I give him eyes. He looks creepy just like that.

#22

Looks badass. Nice.

#23

looking good man! I really like this model and the text is comin along great!

#24

ElysiumGX dude really, that an’t half bad. all I think is that the contrast needs to be a little higher and the texture looks a little to blurred, sharpen it up dude…

in any case excellent work man keep hitting out hard, not much time left :curious:…
