#189

no kidding bro!

imagine the possibilites! that little militant would rock done in KWAK-style!

I’m freaking out, man!

#190

Good job on the decision to close judging, bent - we waited far too long!

I must admit though, im not 100% keen on the historical aspect - unless i can find an idea thats right up my street and would look intresting, i may think twice about entering…

Anyway - this is all just speculation - Hanzo’s choice is final - BTW - congrats Hanzo!

#191

Yep, congrats hanzo. It was very fast, any awesome job. Keep that style.
So i waiting for the final decision about next ugac.
Take care all.

#192

Great job Hanzo, Waiting for the next topic.

#193

This might have been our closest one yet. 3 people tied for second?! crazy.
Congrats all!

ElysiumGX:
Uh, I refer to it as points. Oh I see your confusion now… yeah. Points. I hope that was read correctly by bent or whoever else tallied it.

#194

I’ve been chatting with the winner, and as with Andy, I’m not too keen on the required “historical” theme either. Simply because “historical fighter” sounds very similar to my previous challenge theme “historical battle creature”. Would it be more open to participants if it’s kept at “fighting game character”, because that allows artists to choose if they want to be history-based designs or something completely original.

Discuss, because I believe Hanzo wants the next challenge up by tomorrow…and I’d hate to see anyone left out.

#195

I think of it a little differently…we wouldn’t be doing just a generic time-period fighter, we’d be doing one of the many characters (kings, peasents, murderers, generals, artists, writers) from world history and exaggerating them and beefing them up in the style of a fighting game, Here’s a few cool examples…

[ul]
[li]Jack the Ripper - a dirty street fighter, dressed in a trench coat and a top hat, an apron sprayed with blood, his face is aged and scarred, his teeth are broken and yellow. He creeps in the arena, tosses his coat on the ground, and pulls a hacksaw and butcher’s knife from his bag of goodies. His special move could be decapitation, or he could bite somebody’s ear off.[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Vlad the Impaler - a noble king, clad in gold armor and draped in a blood red sash, marches proudly into the arena, sheathed in his belt, a massive sword with a bat and skull emblem, in his hand, a 12’ long wooden pike. He’s a brutal fighter, not only with great cleaving sword, but he’s also been known to drive the pike through the skull of his enemies.[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Vladimir Rasputin - a dirty, sinister looking mage floats ominously into the arena, his eyes closed, his hands pressed firmly together as though he was praying to some higher power. He’s lanky and muscular, and stands easily 7’ tall. Throwing off his coat of rags, he levitates high above the ground and blasts the other fighters with a bizarre stream of magic and fire.[/li][/ul]
those are just some quicky ideas, here’s a list of other characters that could be done, most of these are from Western History, since I’m not really familiar with the historical figures of the rest of the world:

Caeser
Brutus
Ghengis Khan
Napoleon (leggo my eggo)
Billy the Kid
Leonardo da Vinci
Alexander the Great
Cleopatra
Tutankhamun
Caligula
Lady Godiva
Eric Bloodaxe
William the Conqueror
Henry the fifth
The Marquis de Sade
Snofru
Kaiser Wilhelm II
Lizzy borden
Edgar Allen Poe

#198

Good choice

#199

I’M FREEKINNNN OUT MAN!!!

#200

LOL, honestly, I think this would make for an awesome fighting game…

so, is anybody else 'sides Bent, oldbean, and myself into this idea?

#201

I am excited about this also, but it is all up to Hanzo, and what he wants

But if this doesn’t happen this coming comp, than maybe the following one

I myself think that the Idea is very cool

If we have to make moves, ect

It would be cool to see what some of the characters would do as there finishing move

I can just imagine “Leonardo da Vinci” with the paint brush of death, watch out he’ll poke your eyes out!

#202

Now that you’ve put it that way…THAT’S AN AWESOME IDEA!!! I’m up for it.

#203

lol rock on! glad more people are into the idea now

I hope Hanzo likes it.

-K.

#204

Ya me too, but…

I wonder what the shrug means, that was posted a few posts back…
hmmmm…

#205

Gratz to all the finalists, especially to Hanzo though, nice job .

I’m not siding with anyone who suggests anything character based :stuck_out_tongue: .

#206

No character based? The main point of these competitions is self improvement… So even if it is; you should still give it a shot…
:arteest:

#207

guess what…on the job you are asked to model all kinds of things…and the last challenge was vehicle based…

cheer up soldier!
