Game Art Challenge #10: Walker - grapeshot cannon

This popped into my head as we disscussed the possiblities of a vehicle challenge. Had a few other ideas, but this just stuck in the forefront. Used for city combat, close quarters. Would be transported in with a land train holding a half dozen or so, these leap out and kill everything, leaving the lads free to loot and gather supplies. Equally good for irradiated wastelands as nuclear winter landscapes. Runs on diesel by design, but can be modified easily to run on any sort of flammable liquid.

To make it a little more odd, there’s no window in that little eye slit to protect the driver, nor is there a back to it. You’ll see him exposed there, along with the ammo and feul tank, if your good enough, or lucky enough to get behind him.

The weapon is a short barrelled 12" bore shotgun, so designed for a massive spray of shot, much like you’d see on a ship using grapeshot. Going to make it pump action, with a spot for the shells to eject out after each shot.

Cool concept! I like the lil ned kelly style helmet / cockpit thing.

I sense a lil bit of dominion’s bonaparte in the design…

Well, started laying down some polys. Pretty happy with the shape of the “torso” as I’m calling it, not so sure about the turret though. I think it needs to be a little more unified. Going to play around a bit with some basic shapes to get an idea as to how to fix it.

Still need legs, of course, and more bits all over, but I’m working a little on the slow side, still getting to grips with Max (versus Maya)
