Game Art Challenge #10: (Motortrike) - (minigun x 2)

Right this is my first time entering one of these contests, I hope I do ok! I’ve done a couple of sketches and they sort of outline my idea roughly. My design is going to be based on the main body of a Suzuki GSX-R1000, my modifications will be to add a new pair of front wheels turning it into a trike, (it will have two large off road tires) and an armour plated front shield (with spikes). It’s been designed as either a fast ramming tool or a casualty rescue vehicle, e.g. for when on the battlefield it can quickly come in and act as a shield while wounded are put on a trailer on the back.

The pilot of the vehicle will not be able to see out behind the shield, instead there will be a collection of video cameras fitted to the front, constantly feeding his visor with a range of viewpoints.

I guess my main challenge will be to do it within the poly limits.

The 3D example is just to give a rough idea of the vehicle proportions.

right, I’ve been working on the front shield mostly getting nice UV maps here’s my latest render.

It’s supposed to look like sheets of metal that have been welded together. does it look like that?

If there’s going to be cameras in the front, make them obvious and connect them directly to the guys visor.

Right now the front looks like you took one of the max standard texture maps and drew some dark lines over the UVs. It’s not getting that welded look you need. Go find some images of welded metal and you’ll get a better idea as to what it should look like. Also, You’ll do better if you avoid welding each poly together. Asymetry will help it look more welded, as well.
