Galapagos Giant Tortoise, Eoin Cannon (3D)

Title: Galapagos Giant Tortoise
Name: Eoin Cannon
Country: Australia
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, ZBrush

A Galapagos Giant Tortoise. I made this model to get practice with modeling unusual anatomy and using displacement maps exported from Zbrush. I also just think they’re pretty great animals. They can live to 150 years old and survive for a year without drinking. The fruit in his mouth is a cactus fruit which they apparently eat.

Stunning work! Such super attention to detail. Really like it dude. Would love to know how you went about making the scales, texture or pelting? If there was one thing I might have done, I’d scale back the skin bump, its a little strong making the Tortoise look a little too dry

Wow! Not crits, this is top shelf work…

Sweet work as usual mate. Grats on finishing him.

Would have been cooler to see him in some sort of environment, not just the pedestal. But it works fine. And considering your practising modeling anatomy.

Nice pflow grass :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the support folks, I’m glad you like the model.

He’s set up for animation and I have started doing a walk cycle just for fun.

Here are some of the alphas I used for scales in Zbrush along with doing some of them by hand. They were just done in photoshop
