Gail: Spumebot In The City (nudity), Patrick J. Clarke (3D)

Title: Gail: Spumebot In The City (nudity)
Name: Patrick J. Clarke
Country: United States
Software: Animation Master

This piece is based on the character GAIL, a sex android who, after an accident gains conciousness, while teamed up with Jed Lightsear and company from “The True Adventures of Jed Lightsear, Space Pirate” from Mamtor Comics EVENT HORIZON comic book.

With this in mind, I wanted to capture the sexy nature of her being a sex toy, but keep the underlying oddness and unease of her being fake. She should be beautiful, but then you notice the seams in her legs. She looks at you lustily, but then you notice the cables draped around her shoulders. It was an excercise in balance of sex and technology.

The final image was modeled and rendered in Animation:Master v11.1 on my Mac Powerbook using A:M’s built in Radiosity at a final resolution of 2400 X 3600. Some color adjustment and conversion to CMYK were achieved in Photoshop.

Absolutely great work! Extremely beautiful rendering too. One crit: the cables around her neck look to me like they could be hair too. The message would prolly come across better if you’d bend like for instance a usb cable.

Very nice work! Great rendering :wise:

If there’s something I love 3d modeling, that would be girls, the most precious gift from God, and even when this one is just a toy, I would definetely take her home,
P.S.check my girl on page 2

I am kind of surprised. This rendering is sooooooooo beautiful!

#6

Has a really naugthy thing, about it. Nice.

I love the outfit (especially the zipper). Very 60s. The body is good, but the face is weird (a bit rough. Too rough even for an android), and the eyes are not giving me the sexy look I think you were going for. Also you should also make the tech parts more obvious, cause if you hadn’t wrote about them, I wouldn’t notice (and that is a bad thing).

So you work 3d on a Mac? That’s something you don’t hear every day

Pretty sexy!

wow great work. I love it!!!

How long did it take you to do such a wondeful peice

Modelling time?
Riggin Time?
Renderig time?

Thanks for the comments so far!

The Model
The mesh is a heavily modified version of the Lambrina model found on the A:M disk. I chose to modify a mesh to meet the deadline instead of starting from scratch…

All the clothes were designed and modeled by me based on discussions with the Mamtor’s creative staff.

Since I have a “real” (read, not as fun as this) job, I had VERY limited time to work on the image to and had a month to meet the deadline.

So, I worked on the model on and off (about an 2 hours a night) for about a month working with the EIC of the comic to make sure it was heading in the right direction. The biggest challenge was the texture maps and the mohawk. They are photo maps and tweaking them was a big part of the final image quality.

RIGGING
Since this is A:M, I just threw in the standard biped rig and did some smart-skinning (for muscles, and face) so set-up was in a couple of nightly sessions (4 hours or so).

RENDER TIME
Rendertime for the final image 2400 X 3600 was 50 hours on a 1.8 GHz P4 PC. Not too bad for a Radiosity image.

Here’s some close-ups:

I’ll get some wires up, and will get back to some more questions soon!

A:M’ renderer is SO nice now! Just thought I’d let everyone know. Radiosity in A:M is pretty easy to use and the results are quality.

Some of you may have played with A:M a couple of versions ago, and let me tell you, it’s gotten very good.

Stable, Great Renderer, and of course, top-notch Character tools!

Here’s some wires…the mohawk was going to be hair, but I wasn’t getting what I wanted, and upon close inspection of real mohawks, I decided it acts more like a hunk of geometry than it does real hair :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a picture of the Bones Setup…pretty simple A:M standard setup, but with additional Smartskin on the clothes (not shown):

and a wire of the base model.

oh, and here are some shots of just the clothes. They are part of the final model, and assigned to the same bone system as the rest of the model. Did a lot of research on latex outfits and had a good time putting nice detail (I really like the zipper) into a simple outfit.

I disagree on that, I love here eyes! Great render!

#13

The eyes were originally supposed to be blank white (as the author described) but I thought it was too creepy. I added the light blue, and although I think it’s still slightly creepy, they bring across JUST the right amount of sexiness.

Good news is that instead of a pin-up in the back of the book, it’s now going to be part of the story! I am working on a “magazine ad” version of it (so you can order it :D) and it’s coming along fine.

Can’t wait to see it in print!

Thank you very much, sir!

Whoops, I noticed the last post was from my wifes account.

That’s what I get for checking CGtalk with her computer!
