At the speed you’re going I actually believe that you could have time to make other costumes/weapons… Some Crazy Stuff Here! (Crazy in a good way)

The only thing that still bugs me is the lower half of the character… It just seems like he still does not have enough protection towards the upper leg area… Just medal chain links? But I can see why you did this, for the sake of movement… But still a small problem IMO.

I don’t follow yet all the competition, but helmet, in my opinon was beter on the concepts, in first few posts. But its my opinion. I only clean after You here.

Keep it on. I have only 1 conclusion. I better go home with my skills. :cry: This competition is Yours. Till now You are the chosen :thumbsup:

Miguelito - Personally I only use 4 sided polygons on my models as it gives better smoothing results and makes the model more versatlie and robust.

kdubya - see below - although I won’t be using this chain mail for the normal map - I’ve thought of another way of doing it.

DevilHacker - we’ll see how it goes - I’ll just get the basics done first then go round and add little extras and fix problem areas - I know what you mean though

Poraszek - kind words man - cheers! I’m gonna have the old helmet as an unlockable feature in the game :slight_smile:

this is In-Fing-Credible. Love It. the only thing that bothers me is the teeth on the lion… They look to needle-like and fragile… thicken them up a bit. other than that …its drool enducing.

That looks very, very cool. You should do something with the hi poly model when ur done with it, maybe give it a render of its own and submit it for the Choice Gallery, if the normal mapped one doesn’t look as cool. I have a question, actually, two. How did you make the chainmail without moving each ring into place? And, will the nomal mapping even pick up some of these details, like the chainmail? (I’ve never used normal mapping, so I’m a noob in that area.)

antwawn - I intend to rig and animate him. Some detail will not make it into the normal map because of the res limit and the chain mail will be normal mapped in a different way which I will explain later.

I wonder how the lowpoly will look with all this detail on the normal map.

I hope it goes well and all. This model so far looks sweet as hell I am just wondering about how this will transfer into low poly.

Beautiful work Andrewley! This is looking amazing. Are you going to rough him up a bit, or is this Richard departing on his first crusade, or wearing his polished dress armour for parleys, court-marshalls, functions and such? Will you be baking the reflections into the textures?

this thread is a slap in the face. i’m loving this so far. i like his overall frame, he looks like a powerful fella. out of Pure interest, how many polys is this high poly version? i think it would be really awsome if you kept the high poly version and made him a star in his own fully no poly limit glory with an awsome render of a battlefeild and slain enemys and Ricky boy standing sword held high with a Proud and Glorious battlecry yelling forth…wow.

dare i even critisise this peace? i like the sword, but i dunno, the hilt (is that right), the 2 metal bits sticking out horisontaly on sword, kinda look a little bit fragile. i dunno if i can see those bits defending ricks hands from a powerful sword swipe. maybe a little chunkier perhaps? if you disagree with me then thats cool, cos all this is sweet. :smiley:
