GAC 11: Richard the Lion Heart-Knight

#76

Beautiful work Andrewley! This is looking amazing. Are you going to rough him up a bit, or is this Richard departing on his first crusade, or wearing his polished dress armour for parleys, court-marshalls, functions and such? Will you be baking the reflections into the textures?

Keep it coming man.

Cheers

This is going to be one-person competition… lol… I’m going back to my playground lol

this thread is a slap in the face. i’m loving this so far. i like his overall frame, he looks like a powerful fella. out of Pure interest, how many polys is this high poly version? i think it would be really awsome if you kept the high poly version and made him a star in his own fully no poly limit glory with an awsome render of a battlefeild and slain enemys and Ricky boy standing sword held high with a Proud and Glorious battlecry yelling forth…wow.

dare i even critisise this peace? i like the sword, but i dunno, the hilt (is that right), the 2 metal bits sticking out horisontaly on sword, kinda look a little bit fragile. i dunno if i can see those bits defending ricks hands from a powerful sword swipe. maybe a little chunkier perhaps? if you disagree with me then thats cool, cos all this is sweet.

#79

well done…sets the bar very high

#80

high as the polycount no doubt, good stuff.

I vote that after this contest You MUST create some background and place him in the same high class scene. How many hands You have, like a spider -> 8?? :applause:

The sword need more love, it looks like a candle stand right now. Shield looks wierd too, especially the 4 ā€œcirclesā€ at the top area.

Everything else (except the lion teeth, which you said to change anyway) is coated with a thick layer of goodness. Keep it up.

Andrewley - MAN! This is totally AWESOME! I need to pick my jaw up off the floor.

You are DA’ MAN!! :scream: :bounce: :buttrock: :applause:   :arteest:

#86

Wow I’m speechless… I love the lion paw gauntlets. Excellent touch! Wowa… now I have no will to continue with my char!! waaahh!!

#87

That is so very very excellent. Your metal material looks amazing I look foward to seeing how that translates to game texture.

#88

I really do enjoy this concept.

#89

Just found this thread today it s amazing! I d spend ages trying to acheive that type of work. well done Andrew. How do you fit it in with uni ? Have you or do you work in the animation or games industry! You ll have to finish this piece eventually! Other wise i ll need a new carpet cause my mouths watering! keep up the a1 work:buttrock:

#90

wow… someone so local, and so good :3

#91

Wow…this is very impressive. If you’re able to normal map this to a great looking game character…I will be speechless.

edit: I’m retarded.

#92

Would be fun to see an update on this.

Is it only I who actually think far enough and by judging on his avatar his ā€˜a disciple of Maya’. Why ask when the answer is there? He’s using Maya. :curious:

#93

All i can say is, i hope youre still working on Richard. Id like to see him finished (at least to SOME degree) for the contest deadline. So far theres only ONE entry, so come on lets see some finished work!

#94

ROCK ON! One thing, The armor looks entirely too super clean. I’m sure you don’t need me to give suggestions. I’m also interested in how many polys the high-rez model is. Dude, what ever it is you just started, don’t let it keep you from finishing this. I’m also a maya guy trying to figure out normal mapping. Do you have a good link for the process in Maya?
