some updates:

we are now working on the modeling of the ground and the castle.

#4

cool! Looking forward to see the effects and compositing.
Keen to see how this turns out!

#5

Looks good!

My immediate feeling is that the castle and the mountains are too seperated.

IE, in the beginning you have castle ONLY, and then you have mountains ONLY, and then in the end, you have castle ONLY, again. Combine the two and get a much cooler shot.

Greats mountains, though! Do you have a height map, or did you sculpt it in Mudbox or Zbrush?

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#6

it’s one of my friends how’s working on the mountains. He’s using Zbrush

#7

we made a new storyboard.
I’m not sure we’ll finish it in time, but even if it would be later, we’ll continue to show you our work in progress.

and a new picture about our wip

#8

looking good! Wished i could join you guys.

Nice storyboards! Did you draw them?

#9

That’s an enormous undertaking… 8-O

Z-brush model looks awesome, though.

#10

no, i didn’t. It’s my friend Vincent Grieu raistlin5 (French guy) Btw, he’s working on the last model as well.

I know… lol

#11

and now some pictures about the castle

While everything looks fantastic, I think this might be missing the point of the competition.

This is supposed to be an establishing shot not a full action sequence.

By throwing in all of these other items, it is changing the scope of the entry. I am not sure if that is good or bad thing, I just think that if you continue on this path, you might put others at a disadvantage because we may be overwhelmed by the pretty stuff happening and all others are doing the simple establishing shot as required.

I have been working myself on this for some time although I have not posted an official thread yet (struggling with Realflow). So I am speaking from a fellow competitor viewpoint.

Just my two cents,

Wade

#13

Well, I’m pretty sure “too much material” won’t get anyone disqualified.

#14

don’t worry Wade, I’m not sure we ll finish it in time.
We will have so many frames and passes to render :banghead:

#15

How much time you need?

#16

The brings up another question. I can’t remember what’s the deadline for this thing?

#17

we would like to finish it for the end of February.

I think we will have between 15K and 20K frames/passes to render :buttrock:

#18

I’m not sure what the deadline for this one is but I thought it was Jan 12?

#19

January 26th.

But I still think you need like, October to finish that project.

#20

lol.

I really hope we ll finish it earlier.

some new pictures

#21

Nice sketches. Looking good! Even if you can’t finish it by the deadline, I would like to see it continued and finished. =)

#22

Well, so far it’s the best art directed FXWars project I’ve seen!
