Good luck Jonas, can’t wait to see what you come up with

#3

…This will be interesting  good luck!

#4

Statistically, there’s only a 25% chance that I’ll finish, so… don’t get your hopes up! But thanks for the interest, I guess that’ll make me struggle harder to complete.

#5

I’ll have to keep an eye on this one…always liked your previous animation work,Good luck!

Cheers
Stefan

#6

Those are good odds! My statistics are about 1%!

#7

I ll be watching close your progress and hope 25% is enough for you to make it through. Btw, very cool your latest commercial add.

Good luck!

#8

OK, unlike everyone else who’s close to finished, I still don’t know what I’m going to do… here’s one concept sketch: an expedition has found a giant hole in the arctic ice, and the camera wooshes down to reveal THE LOST CITY OF ICE, all illuminated in sub-surface scattering and GI bounces.

Another idea involves a ship sailing through an ice canyon, towards a massive gate of ice, leading into… yea, same thing as above.

There’s also a third idea that starts out with some underwater architecture, and then we break through the surface, to reveal… well, you know what.

This reminds me of the original movie “The Thing” where the scientists form a circle to outline the size of a frozen alien spaceship. That was a great establishing shot.

I like the hole in the ice idea!

#10

Interesting comparison, Mustan! Haven’t seen The Thing in a while…

Here’s a new sketch:

#11

Looks epic, I like it
Looking forward to see more

For one reason or other, it made me think about Lord of The Rings, when the fellowship row by the huge statues

#12

I like that hole in the arctic ice concept, other than adding the figures & chopper it looks quite achieavable too, hope to see you get it started, and finished

#13

That looks pretty cool! Smart move to put that boat there, the scene feels huge. I would love to see that shot worked out.

Now FORCE yourself to finish this baby!

#14

I really like your last sketch.

So where is the 3d work???

#15

Hey, thanks. I’m down with the flu AND 200% overloaded at work, so… looks like another bailout is likely from me. :frowning:

I did do a rough animatic though, I suppose I could post that.

  • Jonas

#16

jussing- What 3d softwares and compositing softwares are you using?

#17

Get well soon, I want to see that sketch come to life

#18

3ds max, finalRender and After Effects.

@JB: Thanks, I’ll do my best! I’ll try to finish ASAP, even if I don’t make the deadline (not that I’ve finished a single of the other FXwars clips that didn’t make the deadline…)

  • Jonas

#19

Sorry to hear that you might not finish. Hope you get a sudden burst of health and energy next week!

#20

So, I’m back to normal health again. Now I just have to cope with the 200% load at work!

But I have the entire evening tonight for this winter project, so I guess I’ll just have to speed model!

Will update later.
