Well, that just HAS to be Die Hard!
Looks awesome, good luck.

Thanks guys,
paulmcg1 lets see if I can get my idea out of my head and into the pixels, that is usually were I screw up. :banghead:
jussing, here is a peek of the movie that Santa will be watching. Die hard will be playing in my house. ![]()

Well as you can see I am working on the materials for this scene.
For the moment i think it’s too dark, and if not lit correctly, people will not get that there is santa lying on the couch.
Keep it up!
Agree with grrr. Moodwise, the lighting’s good, but you can’t see Santa. Unless of course your camera movement will reveal him.
Say, how’d you model that tree? Looks great!
Grrrrrrr, you are right it is very dark. I am actually going for a very dark mood, but I still might color correct it a bit more in post.
I wanted the fact that it is Santa sitting in the chair to be very subtle, and let your imagination fill in the rest. The camera is going to pan and zoom a bit to show the screen and fire (which you can not see now) a little more, but Santa will always be a just an idea.
jussing, the tree is not mine. It actually came from a lighting challenge on this site about a year ago. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=185&t=570741
The whole idea is that it will go from a very cold winter enviroment (outside) to a very warm interior. When the comp comes together I hope it will make sense…
Hello all,
First, taking the advise of Grrrrrrr and jussing I have lightened up the interior a bit.

Second, I am working on the exterior of Santa’s cottage. So far not much details, no material, and most importantly no snow so off to work.

okay I messed around a bit adding snow to Santa’s house, still a long way to go however.

Dude, deadline is January 26th, not December 26th! You’re stressing me!
Looks good though.
This is already looking great man. are you planning to finish this before christmas eve? :hmm:
Thanks guys. I am just trying to get the modeling out of the way to start thining about the FX.
But hey, do I get extra points if I can finish before Christmas? ![]()
okay, I have dreams and aspirations of making this more of a film (a bit campy) trailer.
That means that I have a bit more to do, but for the moment here in idea with my Santa cottage with some basic materials,

Hello all, I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Just adding a quick update with a test render on the background with snow.

Thanks Stefan,
Although not up to par with the work you are entering, at the end this will be a little more comical. Not to give it all away, my thoughts are leaning towards some what of a Christmas movie spoof.
I have just gotten swamped with work. This work stuff really puts a cramp on my free time… Anyway I thought I would post my latest previs, at least what I have so far.
Looks good!
My no. 1 gripe, though, is the continuation of the camera move inside the living room. Doesn’t look remotely related to the rocket camera from the outside.
I’d slow down the exterior camera before it hits the window, and start the interior camera with a similar forward move.
