hi people, great entries, for me, it’s the most complex scene to do. My vote to Chris Waner
FXWARS Tornado VOTE!
Jonathan Freisler, a hard call on this one, it was all about the level of detail.
It was amazing to watch all the components being put together for these entries, some very effective techniques and results, but I think that most of the work was invisable until the final result was posted. Like the sitting up late and coding scripts and hand animating 2nd and 3rd level flying debris and other turbulence effects details.
My vote goes to: Jonathan Freisler
But all have done an amazing job! Hopefully I will ever participate on one FXWars…

Chris Waner - Great Job!!!
Everyone had great entries, I was really impressed. Good job everyone!!!
My vote goes to: John Paul Giancarlo…!!! The best visual effects man!!! Congrats you’re amazing!
Allot of the entries look very good, but only one can be top-notch: Dan Chamberlin in my eyes.
It’s a pitty that I didn’t finish my own entry yet, I’ll post it when it’s finished and polished (or otherwise show it in a WIP-thread).
+1 to Jonathan Freisler
Was very close to all. Most of the entry’s look like jobs done by small FX houses, but to see one person doing these is more incredible. A poll idea would be good, i wasn’t too sure how to vote but got the idea of it very quick
Ok we have a winner for the FXwars challenge:
WE HAVE A TIE!

DESCRIPTION:
My main intention was to do something fairly different and to stand out. My initial feel for the challenge was to make the shot really cinematic and have an almost film quality to the final piece, again going against the dark and stormy atmosphere normally associated with tornados. I chose to do a waterspout with the hope not many other people would consider going down that avenue. I built all the assets for this challenge using 3D studio max, with pflow for particle effects and some simulations. The spires, cranes, ropes, barrels, boats, secondary buildings and most of the debris on the rig was hand animated to complete the final effect. Volumetrics were done with After burn, FumeFx and all rendered in Vray.
