FXWARS: THE RACE! Mathew Foscarini

#85

@mustang thx man :slight_smile:

and “courage” for the finish!

#86

Holy cow … seems like your going to have a mini movie production going on … very cool!

#87

Thanks. Just so everyone knows my entry is based upon a scene from a movie, but I’m going to wait before I say which film because I’d like to know who can guess the name.

#88

that’s easy , matrix : )

#89

Wow! Why is it always at the end you have the most problem. Anyway, I’ve had to render the last 3 shots several times because things keep screwing up. Crashing, target files missing alpha channel, backgrounds being erased, and many others.

Anyway, it’s all finished now. I’m just doing post work such as color correction and some shots required layers.

Will be posting the finished entry most likely tomorrow.

#90

Wow! Great guess!

I was orginally going to do that bike chance from the Matrix. You can see some early images with the girl riding between two trucks.

Sorry, I changed my mind last week when I realized I wasn’t going to have time to do all the cars.

Guess again

I’ll give you a hint. This film features a very cool motorcycle.

#91

Ultraviolet!

…okay, maybe not.

#92

I don’t remember that movie having a motorcycle in it?

#93

It did (the Milla Jovovich one, not the british television one). She switches on some antigrav thing and rides it on the side of a building… anyway. It was very silly.

#95

Hey, that’s a nice one.

Has a sense of humor, bad bad bikers. Is it your voice?

#96

Nice entry.
Dont forget to post an 800x 600 title card of your entry for the voting thread.

#97

@RobertoOrtiz - Can I post an image tomorrow? I’ve got to go out tonight.

@vrom - It’s not my voice. Sound track is from Akira.

Sweet entry, dude. I’m really impressed with what you were able to pull off in such a short amount of time. Real dynamic sense of movement, great shots, editing, and framing. Good job!

#101

Thanks guys,

Well, I won’t be doing any updates for the next deadline. I just started a new job here in Toronto as a TD for a studio. So I’m busy working 9-5 again. Which is great!

I wish everyone luck. When I get a chance I’ll render out something special for the voting thread.

I’m not sure what I want to work on next. I’m thinking my website needs some updating, and then after that I’m feeling for some old school character animation. I don’t know at this point if I’ll do it in Maya or Max.

Anyway, I think the next FXWars sounds very interesting.

#102

How did you accomplish the impression of rubber being layed down by the bike tires while braking. Really good animation btw…I especially liked the detailed facial expressions.

#103

HI, I saw your animation, its nice,I trying to do the animation of motorcycle ,but I m not able to make a function rig {setup} for motorcycle, can you help me ?.. Your rig is graet , would you send me sample rig ??

This is a script which will create a spline from the motion of an object.

http://dgsd.nm.ru/download/dg_path.zip

For the motorcycle skid marks I attached a dummy object to the bike located where the tire touches the road. Ran the above script which creates a spline. Created a new spline the width of the tire marks, and used loft to create the geometry of the skid mark.

Then I applied a slice modifier to the skid mark, and animated the slide modifier to follow the tire. As the slice modifier moved it created a glow skid mark. Get it?

The texture was done with a gradient map, some noise, and stretch acress the objects XY.
