I’ll give this a go. My first attempt and will try to make it all the way through with my “regular” work demands.

Here is a first test.
Getting the components down first.

Trying to do the ocean surface in c4d and the atmosphere in Vue.
The lighting and texturing don’t match but I wanted to keep myself involved along the way as a motivation. Very low res version
Thanks for looking

Unbelievably busy since last post.
Working on the ocean some more. Learning a lot about procedural textures and shading.
Below is the latest update.

Crits and comments are welcome.
Need to add a more ripple effect and wave caps.
Thanks,
Martin
thanks for the comment earlier -R.Quinn
I’ve tweaked the texture a little more and changed some of the procedural displacement maps for a little cross current look (not easy to see in this sizing).
I think I should redo the sky a bit and bring some of the sky colors down into the water. After I tweek these a bit, I look to add other items like a buoy maybe.
Anyway, heres the latest http://www.chroniclestudio.com/version2_ocean.mov
Looking for constructive crits and comments.
Thanks,
Martin

Hope to see an update soon. The dateline is fast approaching, so you have enought time to render the final scene.

Well,
Here’s my finished work. I learned a lot during this challenge, especially how much I still need to learn.
I used Lightwave 8.5, Vue, Combustion and Premiere. I probably put in about 35 hours of work on this. I would have liked to put in more, especially on the texturing but time constraints did not allow for it.
I really enjoyed this challenge!
