FXWars! THE OCEAN!: Jonas Ussing

#21

Thanks for the encouragements, guys!

…working on the back now…

EDIT, forgot to answer this:

It was, actually, but I had to decline because I’m too busy with a deadline at work. The project was an environment for a cinematic for E3, which would be really cool for my CV. Technically, I don’t have time for this ocean clip either, and the ocean clip doesn’t even pay, so you may ask why I didn’t cancel the ocean challenge to do the freelance clip… Answer is, no-one is gonna sue me if I don’t finish the ocean challenge.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

That looks awesome

What app are you using?

#23

Hey Max, thanks!

I’m using 3dsmax 7.0.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#24

…beginning to look ship-ish. The sails and masts are still temp.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

…finalizing sails and ropes…

I still need some lanterns and a pattern on the back of the cabin.

And those large, tall triangular shapes on the sides will be replaced with patterns of rope.

Cheers

  • Jonas

#26

Beautiful  . Could you show some wireframes? I like to see how skilled modelers work

#27

Aww, you flatter!

here’s a wire…

The sails will be smoothed to a higher poly count.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#29

Great jonas! well done! keep it up!

#30

Hi, Jonas

Your ship is fantastic.
Congratulations! :applause:
the pink plan will be with opacity map?

Cheers
Nícolas.

#31

Hi, thanks!

No, I won’t use opacity maps as they don’t work well with Max’s render elements (they will render as solid in zdepth and lighting passes  ). I plan on building all the ropes and knots.

But unfortunately, I doubt I will finish in time, as I have zero time to work on it for the next 14 days.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#32

Hey too bad i was looking forward to your results!
Oh well one man overboard!

#33

Well I will finish (to much effort put into it now, to just skip it), just don’t know if it will be in time for deadline.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#34

Ok ok,
well then hope its finished before I retire!
jussing you! you better finish it!

Comon man YOU CAN DO IIT!~

#35

Hope to see an update soon. The dateline is fast approaching, so you have enought time to render the final scene.

#36

Yup, I’m not finishing. Sorry.

I hope lots of other people submit their entries, there were lots of really cool water preview renders all around.

Cheers all,

  • Jonas
