FXWars! THE OCEAN!: Jonas Ussing

#13

Thank you, I’ve been forced to up my standards after I saw your chinese fishing boat.

Yeah the chinese fishing boat looks nice, but yours is really coming along too! I’m really liking it so far, can’t wait to see more. I love the style of ship you chose.

#15

@Rusdom: thanks! :slight_smile:

Wednesday’s update…

I feel like I’m moving at snail speed, every day I hope I’ll finish modelling the next day…

Cheerio,

Fantastic stuff! Going to be great learning from you guys! I will probably enter the next fx challenge but wouldn’t have the time for this one unfortunately!

#17

:thumbsup:this going to be great, i had the pirateship idea also but since your making it already i will leave you with the honours.

the model is becoming a real ship more and more every time i see it.

Maybe i will join the wars, just need to find myself some time for it.

Goodluck i’ll be watching you (^_^)

#18

This ship is looking awesome :applause: , the stairs and the cannons are looking great, and I love the barrels, just the size of that barrel next to the cannon seems a bit out of scale. Besides that, great work!

#19

great stuff!
the model is very good indeed.
Will be watching you too:thumbsup:

#20

That’s absolutely awesome, Jonas! :scream: You really got that ‘main shape’ very nice! I’m looking forward very much for the ocean itselfes!

What about the freelance-project? Is it an interesting one?

Have fun & Luck!

Thanks for the encouragements, guys!

…working on the back now…

EDIT, forgot to answer this:

It was, actually, but I had to decline because I’m too busy with a deadline at work. The project was an environment for a cinematic for E3, which would be really cool for my CV. Technically, I don’t have time for this ocean clip either, and the ocean clip doesn’t even pay, so you may ask why I didn’t cancel the ocean challenge to do the freelance clip… Answer is, no-one is gonna sue me if I don’t finish the ocean challenge.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#22

That looks awesome

What app are you using?

#23

Hey Max, thanks!

I’m using 3dsmax 7.0.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#24

…beginning to look ship-ish. The sails and masts are still temp.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#25

…finalizing sails and ropes…

I still need some lanterns and a pattern on the back of the cabin.

And those large, tall triangular shapes on the sides will be replaced with patterns of rope.

Cheers

  • Jonas

#26

Beautiful  . Could you show some wireframes? I like to see how skilled modelers work

#27

Aww, you flatter!

here’s a wire…

The sails will be smoothed to a higher poly count.

Cheers,

  • Jonas

#28

very very nice model

#29

Great jonas! well done! keep it up!

#30

Hi, Jonas

Your ship is fantastic.
Congratulations! :applause:
the pink plan will be with opacity map?

Cheers
Nícolas.

#31

Hi, thanks!

No, I won’t use opacity maps as they don’t work well with Max’s render elements (they will render as solid in zdepth and lighting passes  ). I plan on building all the ropes and knots.

But unfortunately, I doubt I will finish in time, as I have zero time to work on it for the next 14 days.

Cheers,

  • Jonas
