Allright folks, we are in.

I will focus on the effects for the tesla coil and the simulation of it. We will be using Autodesk Softimage 7.5 and itโ€™s ICE framework to do the simulation.

Doe (S.Kowalski) is going to tackle the staging elements, such as the environment, animation and hopefully rendering.

Hereโ€™s a first pass, I did a test trying to have a particle find a way through a turbulized particle field, which I will be using to simulate the density of the air around the coil.

Good luck to everyone!

Nice image.
I wish you good luck in Challenge.
Can we see some animation with that particles being affected with turbulence wind?

thanks!

sure - as soon as I get to it. I want to do the branching first, to get the smaller side arms of the lightning going.

ok, so I have been working on the branching a little bit today, and it seems to work ok. The styling still doesnโ€™t look good, but this is an early test for generating the lightning geometry procedurally. I need to work on the turbulence fields used for branching, to make it a little bit more stable looking.

hereโ€™s another one. now as the branching works nicely, I will work on the dynamics itself.
