FXWars-Superpower: Murphy Randle- Ouch!

#1

Hi all!
I’ve got other projects going on, so I don’t think I’ll end up doing a whole sequence, but I did do one shot.

I know it’s not really realistic (especially the cement fragments) but it’s the first time I’ve really finished something for FX wars.
Please tell me what you think! I could use CC.

Robot arm and particles done in 3ds Max.
Passes and green screen footage comped in After Effects over still image.

By the way, The brute footage that I posted is H.264, and when compressed, it doesn’t key as well, so, if you want to use the footage, post on that thread and I can try and figure out how to get it up either with less compresion or uncompressed.

Ooh BTW, Turn up your sound!

Hmm, also, I don’t have any cool powers coming out of me right now, maybe I will figure out how to add them later.

Please respond!
Thanks a ton!

P.S. Destruct007: Thanks for the ecouragement! You have good ideas and you always seem to make people want to do better!

Edit!!

Ok, well sorry I didn’t make any changes guys, but here is my entry.
The crummy peices of asphalt are inexcuseable, so just riddicule me all that you want. :frowning:
I put this together in about 2 or 3 days (not full time), not including the time I took with the Initial Team to shoot the footage.

Software used: 3Ds Max, Photoshop (Some image processing), After Effects (Compositing).

Thanks and good luck to all!

Looks like a really great start. I think if you play with the keying settings you might be able to get a cleaner comp. Adding some enviro effects, clouds of dust etc… may help the layers blend together a little softer.
Might be cool to have the thing try and stomp him down and not be able too.
Keep up it up!

I kept watching it over and over, looks very nice.

Maybe the hero can turn into dust and then become human again after that moves, thatd be awesome!

hahahaha, its a nice change for the Brute, I like the Idea.:applause:

Ok, here are some CC:

  1. I think the actor get dark to fast. he must get complety Dark when some of the Mechanical foot shadow are on the floor.
  2. There is a problems in the arm of the actor whe you remove the greenScreen, maybe with a little Blur can fix that.
  3. I think need some particles just in the moment that the Mechanical foot hit the floor, some particles for Dust Fx and some for cement fragments. You have some fragments when the leg goes up, but I think that also need when the foot hit and must be very violent move.
  4. I like the fake Actor shadow, but its not right placed, look to the actor’s feet (the problem is more visible in the actor’s right foot).

Good work, I’ll looking up for your final version

Cool entry so far. But it should have at least some minor anticipation, before he get pummeled.

Like he coming from the right reading a newspaper, and then he starts screaming like a banshee, before getting smashed.

Otherwise I love the secondary movement in your piece.

Keep it up!
