FXWars! MoonShot!: ScottageCheese

nice matte

#22

Ok Ok OK! I’ll start on the seperation shot. ummm, this weekend that is.

I’m working with Scott and Angel also.

#23

the seperation shot will be awesome!

I started this morning on doing moon surface tests and the outer space shot. Nothing exciting yet like the rocket shots but hopefully will get alot more done this weekend. Just straight renders from the oven.

shot_003 looks very nice. But try to desaturate the sky a bit, it´s too bluish.

I can´t wait to see the final!

Ok, some more camera layout I found time for…

Most of the moon/lunar shots will be done by my man Angel (ACamacho)…

http://www.scottagecheese.com/images/fxwars/moon/lunar_layout.avi (3.15 megs)

The camera movement really makes the “Eagle” lander look like its moving fast… I might tone it down later, once we get our first test render.

And I know the legs on the lander aren’t extended yet… (hence layout)

#27

all i got in the animation was some sqauriness at the top… but the still is looking good…
earth seems a little naked tho… maybe adding clouds might help (you probably already thought of that)
and the stars look flat and the sky is empty…
your detail is nice…
its looking good

#28

I remade the shader in Maya because of time and because of scott’s kick-ass animatic. Sooo…by the end of the week I should have some animation and actual lighting. There’s going to be actual rock geometry on the ground to break it up and more craters. Plus the stars, lunar lander, dust, etc.

#29

wow man! impressive! Might I ask how you went about getting/making those surface textures?

#30

ALRIGHT ANGEL!

Lookin’ good broseph!

yeah man, this is gonna be tiz’ight!

#31

Ok, here is a preliminary of the Saturn V seperation. no FX added yet and still needs the engines above. The inside is orange because of fire that will be added later.

#32

Looking good gentleman now Git-R-Done

#33

here is a sample of the smoke we’ll use for a couple of the launch shots. the smoke rolls inward and roils and evolves over time.

i’m working with Scottage , ChrisJ, and Camacho on this.

#34

So, yeah…

Just posting to say I’m withdrawing from this MoonShot goodness. I just picked up a job in Manhattan NY and I won’t be around to finish.

ChrisJ, ACamacho, and Jasonkey are going to finish it up. But i had a great time working on the first 3 shots, and loved working on the edit… But, maybe I’ll be available for the next FXwars. Even though I have a bad reputation for never finishing these, I have fun, and learn a lot as I go.

Good Luck to all!

I posted in the Official thread but I thought I’d post here too. I edited the movie with better shots than the rushed one earlier. Hope you like!
