It seems a little bit odd to me that the entries that are receiving most of the votes for a visual effects war (FXWARS) do not actually contain any form of visual effects at all. Most of the effects shown were achieved strictly through compositing techniques. Isn’t there some sort of rule that some form of dynamics have to be included in the entry? If not, why is this competition called FXWARS and not COMPWARS? If I had known this was a compositing competition, I would have liked to enter myself. Little did I know that no form of visual effects were needed to enter (and potentially win) a visual effects war/competition. Just the thought that crossed my mind…

Surely you are mistaking “visual effects” for “FX”? Two different things. VFX is a broad spectrum term encompassing all manner of effects that come together to form a final rendered image, while FX specifically refers to particles, dynamics, etc. While I agree that the FX in the FXWars title should surely imply the use of particles and such, VFX doesn’t necessarily.
