[li]DESCRIPTION: I am a big BTTF fan, so i thought it was a perfect chance to try out my first CgTalk challenge. Of course it is not perfect but i am still pretty proud of it. I am planning to tweak and make this animation better. Especially when i learn to use VUE better so i could create more realistic world. Tweak some lighting and animation.[/li]
The biggest problem was the computer. Viewport lag and long render times were big issues on this project.

I learned a lot from it.

I really like the design of the Duesenberg 1936, and also enjoyed the concept of steampunk. So I just combined the two, gave them an era, and put them into context. So here is the two steam test flights, one of which I didn’t do WIP pics on, so theres something fresh to see here! Hope you enjoy! It was a great learning exp!

A flying car taking of on a cloudy day. First attempt with tracking, but defently not my last. Also first time using Nuke. Learned a lot from this challenge. Not happy with the smoke but that was all I could manage. The animation is rather poor too, but I completely lack any kind of animation skills!

Here it is, our final entry. We used Maya 2008, Photoshop and Nuke to composite our 35-45 layers (depending on the shot). We only finished 4 out of our 5 shots. Length is 50 seconds for the final (including intro and credits).

EDIT

For some reason the links were not working. It would only load the video halfway. I uploaded the low res over top of the old file and it seems to be working now. The high res is in the process of uploading and should be done shortly. In the mean time, I am posting a youtube link as a backup.

DESCRIPTION:

The girl has ncloth dynamics, maya fluids where used for the flames on the car, and particles for the dust. most of the ‘look’ was achieved in compositing - facilitated by rendering in multiple layers with passes. the background buildings and sky, the helipad, the girl, and the car are all separate layers. also each layer has different passes as necessary for it, such as motion vector, diffuse, specular, zdepth, etc.

DESCRIPTION:
Eclipse technologies Gia. This has been a very exciting project for me, for a long time I had so many ideas going through my head, one of them was to design and animate my own car, I had come up with the idea of doing design for a non existent company called eclipse technology. I originally wanted to do a car chase but that would have been a bit to complicated for me, I really am in awe by the entries I have already seen.
My friend Jtype (google it) had provided me with the music, he helped with editing and slowmo. I love the music and I feel in some way the nooby animation and editing, may not do the soundtrack justice, so I intend to continue working on this project after the challenge is over, to increase my skills and get one of my friends to add music. Since my skills and processing power are limited I decided to to keep the animation short, and try and increase the quality of the 7 seconds I already had. Thanks for watching, and all the best to the other challengers :applause:

We have two more shots for this sequence which we r gonna keep working on ..... this battle comes to a very dramatic end :scream:

We used maya , Nuke and Boujou. Cars were renderend in .exr format with multichannels, sky was replaced in nuke using 3d sphere and projecting sky texture onto it.
