That clip is a little too dark for my tastes. I’m going for a “Saving Private Ryan” look (ie, midday lighting, but overcast)
Nah, I don’t like Character Studio I much prefer using my own rigs.

Another progress update…

That guy with the flamethrower seems like he has a target on him haha. you definitely raised the bar here, good stuff.
Another animation progress update…
In this shot, I haven’t yet animated the monster reacting to the flamethrower, and I’ve only animated the soldier’s legs and spine…so that’s why his upper body is totally stiff Also keep in mind the monster steps out of some thick fog, so that’s why the soldier doesn’t see him right away.
There are a few areas of his leg/hip motion that could still be tweaked, but once the camera move is in there I don’t think those issues will be noticeable. Also I have to hurry since the deadline is only 3 days away and I still have a shitload of stuff to do.

Update…now the blocking in the last pass should make more sense in light of what his upper body is doing :)…

Here’s the edit so far…still plan on having 4 more shots. 1 main shot and 3 quick cutaways. No idea how I’m going to get this done for Monday.

This is just so cool! Great work. However, the last shot is too long. Why not throwing in a shot inbetween. Maybe from a totally different angle, from above for example or an overshoulder shot from the flamethrower guy or from above the creatures head, or a macro shot of the hand opening the gas switch, then switch back.
this is tops! i love the guy’s facial expressions as he sees the monster. and the monster’s reaction is great too! can’t wait to see that flame
BANG BANG BANG!

Also thanks for the comments guys!
Designer: the pacing of that shot is intended; it’s a bridge between the fast paced shots before and after it.
Ah I see. Ok, that seems reasonable, but it still seems a bit long to me. It´s about 7 seconds! Maybe with appropriate sound this may not be as noticable anymore but it´s still quite a long shot I´d say. But well, I´ll wait for the rest maybe in composition this perception changes.
4 shots are rendered and comped…2 are still in progress…I think I’ll be able to make the deadline but I won’t be able to do everything I wanted to do (I don’t think I’ll have time to add sound effects or tack on an extra shot I had wanted to add to the end)…wish me luck! If Roberto is going by EST I’ve got about 10 hours left…
I can’t wait to see it all comped up! Very much curious how your flamethrower will look since we haven’t seen any shots of it yet.

My entry should be up in about 20 minutes…
edit: rendering the final comp is taking a bit longer than expected…will be a few more minutes…
