FXWars! EARTH GO BOOM!: SetPixels, Commission Shot, 12/21

#1

Hello guys, we are in too!!!

We all work together at the same company based on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. So we’ll try to use our freetime to complete this mission. We are new to CG challenges and we just want to escape from the day work and have some fun!!!

We are going to shoot some live action with a mini-dv mixed with 3d elements and some camera mappings.

The idea is to make a teaser with our version for the prophecies around 12/21/2012. So we’re going to create a short sequence of these last moments.

We have just finished the script and we’ll post some pictures of the storyboard.

Good fun to everyone!!!

Here is our storyboard with almost all scenes we are planing:

Critics and coments are welcome!!!

hey… Find here is very crazy!
Your script is very good and ambitious … I want to see it done! Have formed a good team

Sergio working on this project as a freelance? You have advantage! rsrsrs

Saludos para Peralta desde Buenos Aires, no se si se acordará de mi. pero en fin, un abrazo. He understands Spanish.

my script is no less ambitious, has a giant wave in Buenos Aires!

#6

wow, this is going to get really cool here…

#7

Now we have a banner and a logo…

Hey Daniel, it will be very nice to see this giant wave!

Thanks Sorath, your sequence is getting very nice too!!!

We are posting the WIP of the Earth explosion scene. We are using Maya particles and fluids in this scene and we’ll post a preview of the animation soon.

#8

This is great…the storyboards are awesome. Can’t wait to see it done!

#9

This is the fist render done with flame particles and combustion flares. Lots of work to do! Maybe we’ll put a sattelite in this composition.

Thank you dellis. We are full of work here but we are trying to do our best.
regards

#10

We’ve been a bit busy this week but we’ll keep trying…

These are our tests for the asteroids space scenes, we’ll post the animation soon.

scene 02 - asteroids floating in space

scene 06 - huge meteor in earth’s direction

We have already shot the live action scenes and we are figuring out a way to match them with the cg scenes.

#11

Looking great guys. May i ask how you went about doing the atmosphere? was it done in post? or in 3d/maya? I’m having some issues on my end doing it in maya and thinking maybe to add it in post.

Keep it up!

-George

#12

Thanks George,

Yes, it was done in post, actually all the atmosphere scene (meteor with particles) was done with photoshop, combustion and flame.

For the other space scenes (scene02 and scene06) we are using photoshop, after effects and maya.
Everything goes to post-prodution for the final look…

#13

What a great work! Keep on working guys!! Awesome

#14

Nice work, how do u do the green particles around the earth??. Sorry for my english…

#15

Keep up the good works.

This team is great!! Good luck to you all!

#17

Wow! Looks cool!
How did you do the storyboard? Is it handmade?
Because I have no idea how to do such a thing like a drawn storyboard. You sketch it by hand and scan it?

#18

  Thanks, Limbi!
I made the storyboard and I really apreciate this kind of work. I prefer to sketch before, but many artists prefer to draw direct in computer. I use photoshop to edi and to colorize. I have more control when I use pencil and paper, but the secret to make a good work is to use lots of reference! Search for pictures and to draw as much as you can!

  E aí, Thiagão!
  Bom vê-lo por aqui.
Todo mundo aqui manda um grande abraço!

  Hi, Jigu
They are just pictures, we´ll post the animation soon.

Thanks, Shotta
The green particles are standard maya particles generate by a simple emitter. We'll use them for the shock wave.

Thank you, maksy
We"ll keep trying!
