Hi this is my entry for the fxwars challenge.
I asked Roberto if i could try to recreate the nightcrawler bamf effect and he said to go ahead so here i am!

awesome, i like it, in the final render with the composition work gonna look spectacular, are particles or fluids?, what is it´s configuration or what kind of fields did you use?

#3

hi thanks!

its all particles with turbulence and radial fields.

I’m gonna get started on compositing it tonight. Looking forward to seeing all the other entries too.

#4

Wow! looks great , can’t wait to see the final render

Very nice effect just one little detail though,

When the blue ninja vanishes, the background that was behind him is all white, the tiled pattern doesn’t show up.

Other than that, I love it.

#7

excellent stuff! you created a very nice looking bamf effect

#8

hi guys, thanks for the comments!

Yeah, i think the bump map i was using got blown out by the lights i put in.
Not too good with lighting yet.

Also, i forgot to credit Dan Neufeldt for the rig which i got from 3dfiggins.com

thanks a lot for the compliment!

#12

any chance to put some tutorial?
thanks
good work whit particles by the way ;0)

hi collingtech, i don’t have any images but i’ll try to describe what I did.

Basically I just created the geometry that I wanted to bamf, and then filled it with particles. Then I used the turbulence field & radial field (I’m using maya btw) to get it to explode & the dissipate. I used the maya hardware shader with motion blur on to get the the particles to look more smokey. Then its just a matter of compositing it in AE. I also added a little bit more motion blur with reel smart motion blur(an AE plugin).

Thats all!

nice aproach man, thanks for quick reply ;0), the visual fx are great congrats
