#27

nice work lino!
good simulation and fx!

#28

Thank you very much Nayar!

#29

Truly a good job Lino.
Beautiful the animations of the breach of the bridge and fume Fx.

#30

Hi Lino thats fantastic work !

can you tell me what a typical render time is for the explosive cloud element?
and was that fume or afterburn? …something else?

#31

Thank you Pengo, and thank you Phildog.

The animation and render is made in Lightwave 3D, and the cloud is made using Hypervoxels.

Render time is variable, from 5 minute to about 40, considering the presence of realistic motion blur.

Nice work Lino, I like the dynamics and the atmosfear of the entire shot too…
If I have to destroy a bridge, I surely will call you!

See you!

#34

The effects looks so great!
Your work is very good!!!
Nice Lightwave application!
“你很牛”----That means:You are eximious guy!
Haha!congratulation

#35

Thank you Alessandro and thank you Ganguy!

You’re really kind.

#36

Top work Lino, loved War of the Worlds (re-make) especially from the first one coming out of the ground to the whole bridge blowing up and car escape!

#37

awsome work.

#38

great effects.

#39

Congratz!

#40

Thank you Roberto, and many thanks to everyone partecipating to this challenge. And, of course, thanks to everyone who has voted my shot!

Many thanks to Paolo Baglio and Raffaele Presciutti for the superb audio track!

#41

COngratulations, Lino!!!

Some tech info about the shot:

The (very basic) modeling has been done in Lightwave Modeler, and there I’ve created the “broken” object.

Even dynamics, lighting and rendering have been done entirely in Newtek’s Lightwave 3D.

On the short distance this software can really give great results!

The sky is made using a displaced/textured plane…it’s animated, even if it’s not easy to notice that in the shot. It’s very fast to render, about 5 seconds per frame using the new photoreal motion blur.

Dynamics implies the use of both HardFX and ClothFX/Hardlink tools.

ParticleFX has been used for the smoke dynamics, and rendered using HyperVoxels, LW’s particle rendering system.

I have to thank Newtek for the incredible bug fixes they’ve made in version 9.2, and for have completely renewed the radiosity engine/Nodal Surfacing system.

Nodal System is growing through the entire software (Surfacing, Displacement, Motion…) and really we can see a bright future for this application, that was left in a really bed state from the previous development team.

If you have any question, I’ll be happy to answer here.

Thank you again, everyone.

Hi Lino, real nice work with the animation, some great cinimatics going on there. I was wondering how the bridge piece shown in the Bridge_collapse_Test_05 video was created, it looks asif its got some kinda of constraint physicis appied to it?

#44

where is the final version?
