I think this is a very interesting challenge and a good way to learn dynamics.
Didn’t do any modeling, just practicing the simulation side.
Here is my first ‘posted’ shot at it (not the first sim …):
There is still a bit of self intersting in the net and the timing is still so-so but comments and hints very welcome.
Very nice! How did you make the “pouch” and what program are you using? The projectile looks more like a tennis ball than a dangerous thing intended to destroy things, but hey

i can’t get cloth to respect collisions and move the object, is that houdini? not seen that viewport before. Nice work tho, looking good.
The program is softimage XSI.
The pouch is cloth.
The cloth respect collision but I couldn’t get it to move the projectile. I’m using a hinge constraint to fake the cloth moving the ball (I made it bigger by the way
There is a way to make the pouch move the ball without constraint: it’s to make the ball a cloth object as well and make it collide with the pouch (instead of making the pouch collide with the ball) but then it screws up pretty much everything else in the RBD sim…
Here is an update of the side view: the pouch is a little better but still feels a bit stiff and no enough weight. What do you think?
Nice work… simple and clean, and it’s got great dynamics, the blocks falling are great.
