Final Shot List

A----_Title card.

01----View of storm from space, descend into storm.

02----Camera experiences the storm, then emerges from leading edge, flys over tropical waters approaching Surgarloaf, moving in close to a cablecar to show stunned people inside seeing the storm (storm is reflected to camera in window glass).

03----Reverse angle, person turns around from looking out window and yells for everyone to “Get down!” (storm is seen racing closer outside window).

04----Exterior shot as surgarloaf is consumed by storm. cablecar is rocked by the high winds.

05a–Storm wall races across bay and makes landfall.

05b–Rio City Hall in blizzard conditions.

05c–Rio Favela mountainside in blizzard conditions.

06----Exterior of cablecar becoming frozen as it still dangles in the wind.

07----Interior of swinging cablecar with scared people on floor.

08----Storm clears from around cablecar.

09----Statue view of storm clearing away from Rio.

10----Camera starts inside cablecar as passengers get up. Camera moves back through frosty glass to reveal effects of storm all around the cablecar/surgarloaf/rio view.

Z----_Credits.

Here’s a thumbnail composite of some of the references we are working with.

Added 2 new team members to team roster.

Yeah, I agree with koexistens this can be very good. But how much 3d are you gonna use? Are some scenes going to be entirely 3d?

#7

Yes, a good portion will be 3D, Matte work and possibly some photogamettry. Shooting custom footage of Rio is a bit out of our grasp, for this project at least

Our team has a large skillset and we’re pushing those skills with this project.

Rio was chosen as it is a location that is reasonalbly familiar place with tropical weather, where a big freeze event would be very unexpected and shocking.

We are all very interested to see what we can come up with. :bounce:

#8

Yeah, we’re still working on hammering out a detailed assets requirements list, but basically every shot will involve some 3D. 05c is probably the closest thing we’ll have to “not 3D” shot, since that will probably be done with digitial mattes on 2D cards (though they’ll probably be comped in a 3D distribution)

Live action will be shot on greenscreen, so we know the cablecar will be modeled inside & out.

It will not be “entirely” 3D. Obviously the four shots involving live action will be 2D plates (though we hope to matchmove and comp them in 3D) and we’re hoping to use camera mapping and digital mattes for a LOT of the exterior stuff.

Jason,

Purple people eaters…where??? That may explain a few things LOL

Wm

#10

LOL! ;p

They’re in your backyard… Ruuun!

Here are selected screenshots from the general animatic.

The locked animatic will be posted in an upcoming update.

Things are really heating up in our little endeavor to cool Rio off.

Our live action shoot takes place on Saturday (we hope to have some behind the scenes to share). Several of our Matte paintings are underway, our hero models are well on their way, the team is working together wonderfully and we’ve added another 3 team members.

It’s really an amazing sight to behold…

As promised, here is the animatic.

C&C is most welcome.

Enjoy.

#13

Wow! Superb work guys! :bounce: That animatic looks really promising and artistic (reaaaally nice cameramoves and so  ). I wonder how far you can push the buttons to reach photoreality?! :buttrock:

Good luck on working on it… You’ll have enough people and proffessionality to work this out to a masterpiece…!

#14

Excelent work!

That stuff is pretty impressiv!
If the final szene should look realistik you have a lot of work to do until your last frame is rendered and composed!

But i´m looking forward to see your final sequence!

#15

Just how many production companies…Uhm, I mean team members are working on this?

Seriously good work. Looks like it will be an exciting piece although the music didn’t really work for me.(But WTF do I know  )

#16

Wow. I think we’ll have to take that as quite a compliment.
Thanks!

Jason has been keeping our team memberlist up to date with each of his posts. I think he’s been aiming to post updates each Monday Wednesday and Friday to keep things current.

No production companies, per se. :stuck_out_tongue:
There are a few of us that are professional artists in some way, but just as many come from other backgrounds as varied as carpentry and computer programming. Just about everyone is attempting something they’ve never really done before, mostly as a bit of a personal challenge.

I’m not sure if any of us have even really met in person, yet. We’re all just friends that frequent the Pixelcorps forum. It’s all Patrick’s fault. He posted a link to this FXWar and things sorta … well … snow-balled from there. (sorry … I can never resist a cheesy pun).

The member list will probably get a bit longer in the coming days.
A few of us happend to already be enrolled in a weekend greenscreen class that runs this Saturday & Sunday. We’ll have to add a couple names as our live action peformers at the least. We’re hoping to use one of the camcorders at the class to shoot the four live action plates on a greenscreen cyc, so it should be fun.

As for the photo realism, yeah, we’ve got quite a lot of work ahead of us in just a few weeks, so I guess I better be getting back to it.

Looking forward to watching everyone else’s entries as they develop, as well as reading any feedback folks have for our own little efforts. Thanks again for the kind replies.

Have fun.

#17

Well personally I love the music…but it’s my band so I have to.

Yes, the idea of posting on the PixelCorps board to get a little tiny small project for the challenged turned into a m…m…monster! It’s going quite well so far and I’m thrilled with what everybody is doing!

#18

Personally…royality free music of this quailty is always good  LOL In all seriousness the music has the ominious energy of severe storm and blizzard imho.

Well then again what do I know…there’s a purple people eater in my backya

#19

Oh, DANG, Wax didn’t even get to finish his sentence before the purple eater got him…how are we gonna get our scene fin

#20

that’s a huuuuge b

chris

p.s. thank goodness at least one of my bg mattes is pretty much done.
