FX Wars! The Race: Murphy Randle Contemp. / Fantasy.

OK, I will get some story boards up soon, but I wanted to tell you guys my idea.
I want to do a race between a '69 Mustang fastback and a fighter jet along a rural country lane.

The county lane part depends upon where I can find a good location to shoot the backplates, but I want to have the environment be footage, and the car and jet be 3D.

I’m probably in way over my head, but it would be fun!

Considering that I am not the most accomplished modeler, I am looking for models for both the Jet, and the Mustang. If you guys see anything, please let me know!

Oh, BTW, the crash.
I was thinking in the end the jet would fire a heat-seeking missile and send the mustaing up in a huge fireball. :slight_smile:

AARGH I LOVE IT! I love that the jet is racing a car, a jets slowest crusing speed is so much faster than the fastest car’s speed, but that’ snot enough for the poilet of the jet! He so insecure about his vicotry in this race that he shoots the car with missle totally destroying the car, that’s awesome!

3dcafe has jets and cars, and turbo squid has free cars if you sort by price

I have to say it again, jets top speed 2500 miles per hour, car 150, LOL Goooo car! You can win, wait maybe the jet over compensate and stops for a rest and when he wake up gets back in his jet as he nears the finish line he sees that “slow and steady wins the race” But NO he’s got a trick up his sleave, BOOM! I love it, tortis and the hair with missles! Rock!

Thanks for the input! I had not thought of having a tortise and hare thing. That’s way cool too.
Now to figure out where to shoot it.
I’m in Utah, but the salt flats are a bit far away from me.

Hey anybody! I found a model of a cuda squid on turbosquid that could be a good placeholder if not the base of the final thing. But it seems to have been made in a later version of Max. Does anybody have Max 6 or 8 and wouldn’t mind opening it and then saving it out as a .3ds? if you could help please post and I will send the model to you.

Dude, looks awesome. Is there a bit of lens distortion on that, curving things out? If so, I love it, would enjoy seeing more, even.

This is the first car motion test.
I am using a free car model that I got from turbosquid.
I will probably end up using this model in the end if I can’t find a free mustang. :argh:

Looking really nice.

I like the little bounce when the car gets going.

The explosion and needs some work. Those kinds of cars are soft bodies, and any force that would flip it that fast would rip it apart.
