Frischluft Lenscare depth-layer adjustment

Hi,
i’m using cinema 4d and lenscare in after effects for the dof.
i am quite satisfied with the result, but i want to increase the area between sharp and blured but without rendering all depth maps again, so i try to apply some curves to the depth layer to increase contrast. though it shows no effect on the final image, even when the layer in solo view has more contrast now. when i switch to “depth-buffer” in lenscare there is no change viewable to the layer.
so how do i get the layer tweaked to show the result in the final image. even in the manual it is mentioned that cures could be applied.

Pre-compose the adjustment. Lenscare bypasses them otherwise, which usually is of course correct and desirable.
