Freelance 3D/2D cartoon artist needed for shareware game

#1

This position is for a 3D artist with 2D experience who can make brightly colored cartoon style aliens for a zany 2D classic-style space shooter that will be sold as a shareware game.

The job will entail the creation of all game art assets, including, but not limited to: 30 or so alien creatures, several bosses, the player’s ship, 15 or so powerups, a number of different weapons, some basic fullscreen scrollable backgrounds (simple nebulae and planets), main title, menus (main, options, credits, purchase), and fonts.

Most assets will need to be 3D rendered, in PNG format, with an antialiased alpha map, and will require a few frames of basic animaton. (flapping wings, moving legs, rotation, etc.) Most assets will NOT require textures, since I am going for a cartoon look with large swaths of solid color.

I will provide those who contact me with a playable demo of the game which uses placeholder assets. This will give you an idea of the look I would like you to mimic for the aliens, but will not be representative of the final gameplay. Those who apply will be required to produce one 3D alien based on a 2D sprite that I will provide so that I can judge the quality of your work.

If you accept the position, you will be required to provide the artwork as it is completed. You will then be paid $1,000 upon completion of the work, and will recieve an additional $2,500 in royalties which I will pay at a rate of 25% of net profit, as well as credit in the game. (All amounts in US dollars.) This amount will cover the rights to all assets and character designs for the game.

Upon the initial payment, in addition to all the in-game assets, you be required to provide all final 3D models, Photoshop files, etc, used in the production of the artwork. You may also be required during the project to provide certain files to make it easier for me to illustrate any art changes that may be required.

If interested, please send a link to samples of your work to scswift@comcast.net. I’d also be interested to know what apps you use to produce your art, and what projects you may have completed in the past. I do not need to see a resume. The quality of your work, and whether you will finish what you start is all I care about.

Btw, if you wish to see some of my own work, you can play one of the games I programmed recently here: Lego Builder Bots

I also produced the application Seamless Texture Generator which you should see a link to below:
