Forum style is broken

#1

FYI, something nasty happened to the forum styling recently. The topic list font is gigantic, nearly twice the size of everything else. Worse, message text is a nearly unreadable grey on a slightly darker grey. Between the low contrast and wild jumps in font size, I get a headache trying to read anything here now.

I haven’t checked if this is just a really bad new stylesheet or something only happening in this browser, but here’s what it looks like for me: http://imgur.com/a/W9vG2 I’ll just override the stylesheet if it doesn’t get fixed, it’s so bad I’ve stopped reading the forum lately…

Same here, gigantic font for message board. Was looking in profile option, refresh cache, nothing found.
Really disturbing …

Here’s a quick CSS style to fix the bigger problems. You can use Stylish in Firefox and there’s probably something similar for Chrome. (You can’t put grey on grey, it’s unreadable and gives people headaches…)

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("forums.cgsociety.org")
{
	.alt1, .alt2 { color: #FFF !important; }
	.alt1Active { font-size: 14px !important; }
	a:hover, #CGSpage a:active { color: #FFF !important; }
	.alt1Active a:hover { color: #FFF !important; }
	.alt1Active a:visited { color: #FFF !important; }
	.imagerow { display: none !important; }
}

Thanks for your feedback gfk, im glad you found a solution.

it’s a tricky balance to find. personally i cannot read the the white writing that you prefer, it makes me dizzy, i voted for the grey. :arteest:

It’s not really about color but more about font size. Even reducing window size it is gigantic and take enormeous vertical space.

The color is definitely the bigger problem for me. Having enough contrast for text to be readable is UI design 101. You never put light grey text on dark grey text, it’s completely unreadable for a lot of people. I hope they’ll fix it, and not ignore it just because this one user happens to know how to override CSS styles…
