Still tryin to know, if Ballack was chosen as the player of the game by the FIFA.

I only know that he had the most ball-contacts in the first 45 minutes.
But he wasn’t really good this game…

In the extra time, Germany just seem to run around with the ball not doing much while Argentina was more aggressive.

Imo thats not right. The first 15 minutes of the extra time Germany was the aggressive team. The second 15 minutes Argentina was way better.

C’mon! Let alone all the referees fouls and stuff, this call is just not right! Let’s not even consider argentinian players for the best of the match, at leastl the number 22 (Cant remember the name) was way better than Ballack!

As soon as it went to penalties there was only going to be one winner. Germany are so clinical in shootouts it’s crazy. It was an ok game overall but yea the Argentina manager made a big mistake with his two substitutions, it basically handed the initiative to Germany for extra time.

Germany will take some stopping, theyve built up some huge momentum now and with the crowd behind them as well it would take some performance to beat them.

In theory Italy v Ukraine should be a bore-fest with the style of the two teams, but I hope it will be one of those surprise fixtures which actually turn out to be good.

Couple of decent games to look forward to tomorrow. One of which I’m particularly interested in! :bounce:

Oh yea and that melee at the end was madness! I agree with someone earlier in the thread who suggested that it was Bierhoff taunting Heinze due to his German roots. I think Argentina were quite bitter about the way the match was officiated as well so probably didnt take much to send a few of them loopy.

I didn’t mean just in the offense, Argentina’s defense was also aggressive, as soon as one of the german player have the ball, 1 or more argentinian moved in on him. It looked to me like German actually wanted a penalty shootout so they were just wasting the time.

I think the episode at the end was to say the least, embarrasing for both. Such a childish attitud. It really surprises the provocation comin from germany, I always though of them like really disciplinated (sorry for my bad english). Argentinian players are way more impulsive, embarrasing anyway.

I really think the coach should stay, the problem here is that he wasnt very supported by the Argentinian Football Asociation.

still, the changes he made on the team were wrong and too soon.
In my opinion it should had more opportunities and time in field to Messi, and even Lucho wasn’t very comfortable with his position, we saw him more active towards the end when he started to appear a little more in the middle front of the field… i’m speaking in Lucho because it’s a player i really know and like… (as a player of my club he was granted with the tittle of best player of them all! Ever!!! :rolleyes:))

an hour ago Germany beated my country argentina in the quarter finals, well, their team sucks, but they play local so they won, didnt deserve the victory at all, it was such a fraud!

…so I go for Italy now! and my second choice is England

but no way brazil or Germany, weak teams!

It’s funny to see how being for one team can change your perception of the game. I didn’t care who won, so I thought the ref did a decent job. Not perfect, of course, but ok.

It’s too bad they didn’t really play a lot of end to end football until after regular time. Pretty entertaining overall, even so.

[edit] Wow! What a save for Italy. Ukraine doesn’t have a chance now after that and Italy’s 2nd goal.

Well…that…is going to be a hell of work ^^

Italy played awesome against Ukraine.
Although Ukraine had some great chances they were rather weak (especially in the first half).
But imo Ukraine would’ve deserved one goal (for fighting so hard in the second half).
