I’m not sure if this has been mentioned already (haven’t read all 45 pages of conversation! :P) but I just wanted to say how disappointed I am with the amount of players who are asking the ref to book or send off other players of the opposing side. Most of which are going down all to easy to try and gain the unfair advantage. Its one thing to be brought down and then want justice done but lots of players are diving with the sole intention of getting other players sent off.

IMO I don’t think its at all sportsman like to ask the referee to book other players at all and it should be a yellow card offence to ask the referee to give another player a card.

Well i beleive that’s a part of the fun, Seeing professionals acting like that…

What a stupid ass game yesterday Portugal vs Holland!!!
Van Basten definetly decided it was a good strategy to injure Ronaldo, the Dutch were totally unsportsmanlike throughout the whole game, many of the Portuguese yellow cards could have been avoided (Costinha? sheesh…), the Dutch should have gotten way more yellow and one red card than they have gotten…
All in all, a reffing disgrace and lousy strategy from the Dutch team. It felt like The Great Escape.

I already acknowledged the Boulahrouz red card. I acknowledged the obvious diving by some Dutch players. But please, don’t play the sportmanship card when you spend 50% of the game frustrating the course of the game.
Of course Portugal deserved the victory, there’s not a hair on my head thinking otherwise.

Ya, I think you guys are a bit obssesed with the incidents (and with the ‘biasness’ talk). Every referee would have had a hard time in this game. I don’t think Boularouz would have gotten a red for the foul even if they viewed the replay because its hard to determine he meant to hurt him. From a profile angle you can clearly see he was going for the ball. That’s not an easy thing to judge. And portuguese players should have controlled their temper.

It was a very good game. Exciting, unpredictable, and some very good attacking play from holland and counter-attacking play from Portugal. Even with the incidents in the second half it was in no way a bad game. One of the best till now, unless you enjoy games like England vs. Ecquador.

But I just don’t enjoy watching games like yesterday’s, it was like kindergarten in Fallujah, not good football! And yes, we did win, but at great cost - our team will be missing some crucial players vs England and probably later on, too! :shrug:

In the end the only thing that truly mattered was that Portugal put the ball in the net once and Holland didn’t. It pains me to say it as well because if Holland reached the semis I was guaranteed £££!
