Hello, I recently started using Modo 601, and I had tried Lightwave 11 for a few weeks before it, but other than that I have no experience with 3D design, so sorry for the obvious newbie question.
In Lightwave I was able to bring either an uncompressed video or image sequence exported from After Effects and use it as a backdrop. This allowed me to preview what a 3D object would look like on real footage when it was finally rendered, and even render it along with the footage if I wanted.
In Modo I can’t find a way to do that. I can set a backdrop item in the Items tab and assign it to the camera viewport, but it will only display in OpenGL mode. If I turn on Ray GL, it goes away. Same thing if I render with F9 or preview the item with F8. According to the manual, that is the normal behavior, so I was wondering if there is any other method or a workaround to show the footage at least using Ray GL, even if it doesn’t show in the final render. Showing it in Open GL is still useful for all the geometry, but there’s gotta be a way to preview what the final render will look like over the footage, especially for all the things that only render in Raytracing like for example a shadow catcher and certain textures.
Thanks
