Following old vue tutorials in vue 11?

#1

I’ve been trying to follow along the fxphd tutorials for vue201 using vue 11 and there seems to be some big differences interms of values used between vue 8.5 and vue 11. Does anyone have advice about what to do to compensate for the difference in the software?

Lowering the multiply by constant node down to 5 or 6 seems to get me in a good ball park. Thanks.

In versions of Vue before Vue 9 one Vue Unit was 0.1m. In Vue 9 and above one Vue unit is 1m.
If you are new to Vue it will be much easier to work with tutorials made in Vue 9 or higher.

Scaling aside, water also works differently in Vue 10 and higher with the Physical Water material, which I think was introduced in Vue 9. If you add a Sea to the default scene it will look very washed out in Vue 11. Now delete the ground plane, the sea will assume the colour you expect. This is due to the fact that Vue calculates the water depth and then applies the physically based transparency. With the Ground plane in the scene and the default Sea added the Sea depth is 1m, so the colour of the ground plane makes the water appear almost grey.

Thanks for the info! So how would I compensate for the scale change in the terrain fractals without guessing with the multiply node?
