Fluids - Incandescent Color Not Rendering

#1

This has been kicking me for hours. I’ve tried Maya software, mental ray, and Arnold. Default lighting is turned off in the render settings,
and Real Lights is turned off in the fluid shapes lighting panel. I just
can’t get the colors in my fluids to show up in my render view.

Would anyone more knowledgeable be able to take a gander at my screencap and
explain why I can’t get visible colors, or what I can do to get them
into the render preview? I’m losing hair. Thank you!

Hi Wolfride,

hard to say without having a look into the scene.

Where does the blue color come from? Looks like the incandescence is there but the bias looks different in viewport and rendering.

Cheers

When using mental ray, did you also have Final Gather on?

If the setup is proper, and you may need to amplify the FG scale or secondary bounces to get it to work, that incandescence should be emitting “FG light”. You may need to pipe that ramp out or duplicate it in a volume shader though, I haven’t done that in awhile. This creates a kind of “light surface” effect, only without the surface light shader.

I’ll try to mess with some fluids and see if I run into the same problem with similar settings if I get time, but I only have mental ray running here so I can’t really help with Arnold.
