Fluid Effects vs Fume FX

i wouldnt say its beautiful. i think it looks ok. but its very low res.

if you play with the density curve you can bring out details and by using self shadowing with real lights and playing with intensity and position of lights you can get more and better looking detail than the OGL preview by far.

Hi guys.

I just wanted to post my fluid fire on here to get some crits (and support :-)).

It’s supposed to be a dragons fire. I’m happy with the middle and end part (althou I think it ends a bit too fast), but now after I did it, I would change the beginning to something not so fireballie.

Just want to again say thanks to viki for posting some interesting results here. I used his scene as a starting point, looking at the settings for the fluid, and tried to get the results I wanted for myself in a completly new scene. It was the most learnful experience for me so far, working with fluids.

Keep up the good work guys

Recently, I learn 3dsMax for FumeFx’s fluid.

It’s very easy to create fire and smoke with simply steps. However, it is easy to get shut down. I try to solve it and get a easy way: give it some frames in previous. It provides a buffer for it, also it’s easy to shut down, at least the rate is decreased.

Okay, MayaFluid has its own good advantage. FumeFx is fit to CF industry, coz it’s fast and quality is above the average.

I’ll show you guys my test soon. And Transfer max camera to maya, make a nice pipeline for maya user perhaps.

Whats CF Industry?

quicktip

reverse your incand ramp. The hottest temp would be right from the thruster (blue), then dissipating orangish to yellow.

This is quite impressive.
We have to tried it on Maya fluids Vikas. Not going to be easy.
Cheers

#394

wowwwwwww :frowning:

#395

some of those shots can be pulled off with a 2d or nearly 2d fluid.

#396

wt abt the first & last video?? they look bit challenging
I believe for the first one the trick wuld be to emit lot of density like 80-90 for first few frames with a good swirl value. I might also rotate my container to make Y horizontal.
any pointers for the last one??

#397

the first one… yeah… thats fumalicious…
if anyone can pull that off, you the man. Maybe a combo of 2d and 3d fluids, but thats alot of detail…

the second one :

two 2d fluids, one vertical, one horizontal. the horizontal one will burn along the ground and maybe emit into the vertical one (but this doesnt have to be that fancy, a moving emitter can do too). both are very high res. but from that angle, we can safely assume taht its a long camera shot so we dont need the perspective of a 3d fluid.

maybe the one on the ground would have alot of fuel emitted into it with a slow reaction time. then it will burn along its length naturally...

just some ideas, in fact just thinking them makes me want to try this at home

#398

please share some scenes that has this effect in 2D…

hmm,… or maybe you mean the After Effects Particular?

This thread is funny

#400

huh??? 2d flluids… lol

maya doesnt do very high res because it chokes so you have to make it high res in 2 dimensions and skimp on the 3rd one. thats what i mean by 2d or nearly 2d fluids.
