Flat look

I’ve been studying a way of achieving the following look. I got a few ideas but wondering if some of you that did something similar would have any pointers. (I usually work with Maya and vray or redshift but I’m pretty open to other options if I would get the same sort of look)

it’s a lot of comp. the easiest way to achieve it is to hand paint your texture, slap it onto a flat shader then render an RGB pass and light and shadow passes and use comp to really sharpen up the transition from light to base colour to shadow. it’s essentially a toon shader but with a bit more control.
