flash drawing

#1

I remember when i first started using flash, when I drew using either the pencil or the brush, while still holding the mouse button the line that I was doing was smooth, then I dont know what happened, I dont know if I changed an option or because of the new version, when I draw now, the lines are very rough while holding the mouse button then when I release them they are smoothed again. I dont like to see rough lines while tracing because its not natural, as an artist you like to see your lines as they are meant to be all the time, does someone understand what problem Im having? I dont mean the pencil options (ink, smooth, straighten) its something to do with aliasing I dont know, maybe its my graphic card, please help

First of all, danydrunk, are you using a wacom tablet, or just a mouse? From the sounds of it, you are using a mouse - very difficult already! As for line quality (as in, jagged versus smooth) if you have upgraded your flash, the line tends to do this. I will always swear by flash 4.0 for its line - flash 5 is horrible for smoothness, and flash mx is a little better than 5, but worse than 4. If you go in closer and do more lines without letting go before flash has a chance to ‘correct’ the line and make it jagged, you have less chance of it changing your line. Kinda hard to explain, but it works. Try it and see.

Interesting problem, though I don’t how to correct it, but I can advise you to use a Wacom, it’s so natural to use, and even the small A6 Volito is cheap & great, a lot better than any mouse, you can trust me !

I had to agree with POR3 on this one. A wacom makes a world of difference if you are drawing (and I mean drawing a lot) in Flash. The strokes are much more fluid and controllable (with pressure settings and all) which will allow you a higher degree of expression.

Hehehe…I am not trying to sell you Wacom here…but any tablets that is compatible with Flash should be a world better than just using good old mouse!

I do have a wacom, and trust me this issue is something i cant explain, I have the same computer since I started using flash, I remember that flash didnt process the line while holding the mouse(or wacom) button back in version 4 I think or the one following. Drawing was smooth with flash, even with the mouse, now with a wacom I still cant gett that smooth quality i used to have…its strange
