Woo! Everything is working with my video card and Messiah now so I can actually sit down and learn to use it.
For this render I basically just took a zsphere in Zbrush and used the std brush to sculpt some wacky detail to test the Messiah displacement. Thanks for everybodies help in getting me going with Messiah, it was a rocky start but the waters are clam now.
Gary, your video tutorials helped me out a LOT when starting this project…very informative to the novice user. I’ve got the basic material down to almost how I want it using translucency and having it “glow” but I need to figure out how to make it kind of waxy looking like a candle. Other then that I’ve got the hang of the rendering/material aspect of messiah only I still need to get a nice anti aliasing setting down so my renders look more crisp instead of blurry…but that will come in practice.

Shader flow:

Yeah, it is a little strange but it was a good test to get the basics down. I was a little scared of using node based shaders since I come from the easy world of Cinema 4d.
