Filenames paint textures.

#1

Hello,

I have a small problem but it’s kinda buggin me more and more.
When I use Mudbox to paint textures I always name my layers.
When I save out my .mud file so it will save the textures in the folder, Mudbox always places “Default Material_” in front of the filenames.
I dont like this, so I delete it all the time.
Is there a way to make Mudbox NOT place this prefix in front of the filename?

I know it doesn’t happen when you choose “export selected”, but that’s not really handy with many layers.

thanks,
Boyo

the lack of custom naming for materials really is the biggest annoyance with Mudbox - you can’t do anything about this.

#3

you can rename materials. just right click on the material in the object list and rename it.
this will change the name of the textures the next time you save your file.

if you have multiple objects, just assign a new default shader to each and then rename the shaders.

ah shit - nice. thanks - I just thought it was in the Edit Material but that works. thx

#5

but i dont want the name of the material in my file name, just the name of the layer. is that possible?

doubleklick and rename it…

i’m looking for a way to avoid just that.
because i often have many layers.
