Hello Rudahr
Here’s my picture of main sword with dimension. It’s only number but no unit so you have to scale it as you wish. You can refer to nassersays info that the sword is 6’ in length (when all combined) I think it should around that length too.

For the sword bag (i don’t know how to name it too -_-’). I did some capture and put it together. It may help you some.

Cloud’s sword bag ref.

Hmm… i’m quite surprise that my work is interested by cosplayers

your pictures seem to be down, i can see a prview of them at google, thats how i found this site but the original images dont load.

i am also trying to construct a 3d model but can not determin how the main sword closes up and opens.

Wow, I was planning on trying to make this sword, but you’ve done a far better job than I could have. Is there some way I can download that? I Want to convert it so I can use it in a game.

#25

How do u plan on making it?i’v made all but rune and butterfly edges so far,but there just wooden versions of them…

#26

Wow… i wonder how you model the butterfly edge swords(the back) to have that shape when they combine together, unless they’re asymmetric like this.

Kinda wierd though
I might add that i have negative feeling with that blade in the image above. It looks like a quick mock up one. It doesn’t even has the plate near the handguard.

Can we get around this apparent problem?

I have been diligently searching and posting about this problem that i’ve also found. I thought i was the only one (Thank you so much, Hellvy, for pointing it out) who saw the problem. AND IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM–at least for those who want to model the swords, either in modeling programs or wood/styrene plastic, in such a way that the butterfly swords can form BOTH the seemless back ~cover~ over the core sword (in the final assembl sword) AND individual swords. If we were content with believing that the butterfly swords’ only purpose was to form the final assembly-sword, then deciding its definite geometry is simple: you just treat the entire final-assembly-sword as a solid mass; “hollow out” that mass with a “cavity” with which the core sword would be present; then divide this mass in two along-its-length into two name-able masses–the “front sword with the movable handle-halves” and the “back, butterfly swords”; and finally, take the solid-mass that is the “butterfly swords” and further split that mass down the middle to form two “swords”… And what you end up with is what Hellvy very accurately observed as the “edge swords(the back) to have that shape when they combine together…asymmetric like this.” In other words, WARPED blades with its points forming wonked bends, unwieldy as individual weapons.

Before i continue, please allow me to plea with you, potential readers: if you do read this and if you would be so kind, please kindly do anything but leave my sincere inquiry unanswered. IF I AM NOT MAKING ANY SENSE, please tell me. IF NONE OF YOU SEE THIS “PROBLEM” OF MINE AND FEEL THAT I AM SEEING SOMETHING THAT ISN’T THERE, please tell me. IF MY OBSERVATIONS ARE CORRECT BUT THEY DON’T AMOUNT AS “PROBLEMS” OR ANYTHING THAT IS WORTHY OF CONCERN, please tell me. This problem has plagued me for literally months…not least because…while truly talented artists as featured here are making great strides in what i consider to be ADVANCED things such as realistic and detailed renderings which BENEFIT US ALL AS FANS GREATLY…nobody seems to address this BASIC problem that–now it is confirmed!–is noted not only by myself.

I will go as far as to say that the ~assymetry~ of the back (butterfly) swords is a fundamental issue that, if not appropriately addressed, makes any further study of Cloud’s 6-piece Sword significantly flawed at best.

Thoughts, anyone?

yeah i also registered just for this topic. fungy guy your def right, i noticed that too… if this is indeed the way the top is formed, then wouldnt the point of the butterfly swords have to be curved inwards one blade curving left and the other curving right? otherwise would there be a hole in the front? lol i think thats right

hellvy could you show us a render/elavation of the front of the sword

thanks
brian (no 3d software just PS7…)

this is great work… have u ever tried animating it in action when its in limit break ? this is really good stuff !!

the rendering programme is flamingo or ?

(sorry me really newbie in rhino…)

fungyi: about the shape of the sword here is a picture of it in the final battle of the movie.

as you can see the end of the sword is bent at the end so it was purely designed to be just used to make the final stage of the sword.

several months ago i finished the sword but for some reason i did not post here, here is my version, it is not textured and was modeld in a programme called milkshape.

in this picture i had not created the two last swords but in the final animation they are there

here is a video of the animation i created it is in divX format.

please leave any comments on my sword.

and because i found the pictures of the sword so useful on this site i am giving you guys it free here it is.

First of all: AWESOME JOB! your swords are amazingly accurate to that of Cloud’s sword based off of the movie, I pretty much worship that move/character, so I know my fair share… ; ) And i gotta say, of ALL of the models created of this godzilla of a weapon, your’s is BY FAR the mest and most accurate! Looking at your final model, I saw not one thing wrong with them. perhaps your dimensions, but getting those right is near impossible as it is!!! I did have a few questions for you though, cuz im making an attempt to try and learn the ropes of this noble art and was wondering if you could give me a few pointers. I’m relatively new to the computer as well, but if you could possibly point me in the direction to an easy to use free download (somewhere to start?) i would really appreciate it! Well, Im done drooling over your masterpiece (not really, its my homepage o.O) and im done yappin, so FANTASTIC JOB!

Sincerely,
markus
