I am no master at Layout so it takes me a little longer than most but I do enjoy it. I need to keep working on the texturing and lighting skills a bit more so I might use this guy for something more after fetch.

Any tips are more than welcome as I think you are a LW user as well :stuck_out_tongue:

Another weekend and another update :slight_smile:

I decided to go for the mom anyway even though I thought I was a little burnt out with the fat kid :stuck_out_tongue:

I like her so far, I don’t think there is much else to do for her, as far as I know Omar, you only wanted the torso. I will probably give her legs anyway but if you need her any times soon then she is near ready.

I love the model dude. :slight_smile:

I think you have captured the look of what I had in my head very well.
You also done a real good job at making her have a likeness to the boy.
I would believe that she was really his mother.
Some small comments… but you are done in my eyes.
But it just helps to give some input.

  • I normally don’t like modeled eye brows, I would go for texture mapped ones for the mom.
    With the male characters I think it works better, cus it looks great on the car driver.

  • Maybe a bit shorter neck.

  • Also taper her waist in a bit, looks good as is but may add that extra feminine look.

You can dump her on the server as is, or when ever you are ready.

You are all way ahead of me so you have time to play around with the models.
But I’m creeping up on you all so don’t sleep. :twisted:
I’m working on shot 2 right now back in “Juan mode” animating.
It is the longest shot of the movie so far at 30 seconds and about 1030 frames.

Hey Big O, glad you like her. I have removed the eyebrows and tightened the waist in a little for you and I also added legs and feet. I know she doesn’t really need them for the shot but I thought I would just finish her anyway.

I forgot to shorten the neck in the renders but I did it on the OBJ which is up on the server.

Not sure where I will go now with this, might try props like I said I would :stuck_out_tongue:

Just a quick note to say I updated the OBJ file on the server. I noticed the arms were quite long when I rigged her so i shortened them.

That is looking great Big O. Looking forward to seeing the rendered version but what I see so far rocks.

Everything is looking great, the only thing I can see (and i think this is almost turning into a fetish now) the ball seems a little stiff when he throws it up and down in his hand. Just need to adjust the curve to allow for a little easing on the upward motion of the ball.

Super Duper stuff though :smiley:

Hey guys!
I saw yesterday that FETCH wasn´t on the top of the forum, what is Tony doing?, you are slowing down or what!! No no no :slight_smile:

Characters are looking great!
The animation in shot 2 is quite nice, just 2 things to say:
When the dog is jumping and barking, he barks every jump at the top, it looks too even to me.
The other thing I see, is that the Kid´s facial expression are too many too slow, also very even timed, when I watch it, I think “c´mon, change your face faster!!!” ( I am a bit tense…):scream: I would do them very snap, I guess they are a reaction to the car accident we talked long ago, so to every noise, a face change, some faster than others.

Otherwise, looking very good everyone.

Hey folks…
well I thought I owed you an explaniation for my lack of updates into music…

It´s pretty simple though and I suppose you´ll understand it…

I have a bad pc… A pentium III with 624 mb of RAM… too little…

I was able to use it, but some weeks ago it just started working really bad and I can´t work on it… So I started collecting $$ and tomorrow I´ll buy a new pc…
It´s not much but it´s perfect for my job in music…

A pentium IV Duo Core, with 2Gb of RAM, and 300GB of space…

So I´m pretty happy (In argentina the dollar is 3 to 1… so I have to pay 3 times what it´s really worth it… it´s not that simple to buy a pc here…) But anyways, I´ll buy it tomorrow so I´m very happy and you´ll see updates from me soon…

I´m allways following the thread though and I like it each time more and more…

Yep very tired, but have lots to say.
I’ve been keeping a bit quite because I’m trying to save my energy
to keep working on fetch.

So here is shot 2 fully rendered.
The good news is that we have done all the shots from the start shot 1
all the way to 8 fully rendered, of course as always still things to fix,
but that is normal…

Juan, good to have you drop in.
You are right on as far as your comments but it is that way very intentionally.
I wanted the dog to be annoying and repetitive so I made him bark on
every jump, kind of like them wind up toy dogs that just keep barking like a robot,
very annoying just like how the boy should feel.
One thing I see is that our bounce animation is a bit different as far as speed.
But don’t know if I will fix it too lazy.:stuck_out_tongue: too much more work…

As for the boys reaction to the crash, I also wanted to make it very awkward.
It will be a really big car pile up… and I also want the sound guys to have a good time
making sounds and get a chance to shine and show their skills.

Tony, the “keep going guy” again great job, I don’t even have to worry about you.
You always keep it going, at least you live by your own words (KEEP GOING !)

We are very close to the end, just the final act has to be done.
I would like to also add a few bonus insert shots to the edit we have so far.
I will try to break it down below.
As the shots grow so does our " TO DO" list.

Insert shots:

  • Extended intro shot.

Kids playing in the street, to show that the world is bigger and also
where the ball came from…

  • Mother in the window.
    I will cut shot 1 into 2 parts the mother will yell out the window…

  • car crash…
    Just to show the start of the crash and the dog jumping into the street.
    I will also cut shot 2 into 2 parts.

TWEAKS:

Things like animating the boys hair, and some dust effects…
The game screen has to be animated, also make the light from the screen show on the boys face.
Also to complete the backdrop in all the shots. And many more small things.

I’m guessing that we should be done in a few months.
Maybe September around that time maybe sooner if we keep it moving.

I think that is it for now… now I’m really tired of typing.:wise:

Well what can i say that has not already been said 100 times before. It’s looking GREAT Big O.

You are a machine I swear. Watching the whole animation so far really puts it into perspective and it is all looking fantastic. Everyone has done an amazing job on this so far.

Sorry for being a bit quiet of late, I though I would let Omar catch up with my models. Sorry for the influx, I am like london busses. Nothing for ages and then 4 turn up at once :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry for my absence from the thread for a while too, I was taking some time out to read up a bit and try and progress my skills beyond the basic modelling stuff. However like always I came back. I figured my fat kid needed a friend, or as in the life of most fat kids a ‘bully’. I got messing about with an idea and then fell in love with it and got carried away and gave birth to a new kid I call ‘Gerry’. I am gonna do some stuff with him myself down the line but I figure Fetch will be good for his CV :smiley:

He is moddeled and textured for LW (weightmaps and shading) but I can fire the basic model up on the server. Not sure if he fits the style of the rest of the toon, so let me know Big O.
