Fetch | Cg Short.

WOW Omar, this is some fine body of work, you have really excelled yourself!

Sorry I have not been about the past while, between life & work I have not had much inspiration for 3D but I am glad to see this still up and running and with some fantastic progress.

I will try and get back into the swing of things again soon but just wanted to pop in and say how damn impressed I am by the whole thing.

Keep up the GREAT work!

Cheers

#342

Absolutely amazing. The overall animation is good… Only thing I think needs adjustment is the ball bounce with the title… Timing in the end with the dog, gekko and ball is nearly perfect!

Right. If you are going to keep that cameramotion (which works but doesn’t give right credit to 3D environment) for background it would only need a single matte painting… Only question I have… do you accept my quality of work… since I think it’s far from yours… Well I’m going to give it a shot and you can decide.

#343

Whats up omar, let me say, you do great work. I feel so bad in having to slow down on this project. I only wanted to live up to my word. Believe me, I would so do anything. I am just having a hard time-- But hey, if you ever need a quick turn-around solution. Holla and I will come runnin… lol. I will be watchin the thread though. Peace

#344

Hey Guys,

Just thought I would pop in and see how things are going. Been seriously busy the past while but I am slowing down again and trying to get some modelling done again (as well as playing with other stuff) so I thought I would pop in and see what was going on with Fetch.

The movies above are looking great, nice to see some of the old work making an appearance and Omar you have done a fine job animating it.

How is the task list at the moment? I think most of the modelling has been done but just wanted to check up in case there was any tasks that needed doing.

Well anyway, let me know when you get a chance

Later

Thanks for checking in everyone.
I figure that I should do the same.

Shot 1 has been fully rendered about a week ago.
It took me about a week to render all the layers.

I haven’t posted it yet because Eilam is working on the sound.
He says he needs more time to do it so I’ll give him about another week
if not I will just post what I have.

We still need some good animators to join.
Without animators this project will not go on.

EVERYBODY has done their job, so now it’s up to the animators
to carry the ball now.

#347

I guess Eilam was not able to complete the sound for the shot in time.

:wip:

So here it is shot 1 fully rendered. As always some small stuff to tweak.
But this is it for now.

As stated before , this project will be put on hold until we get
some animators involved. If no one joins on, this is the unofficial end of this project.
Meaning , the original goal stated in the first post was to complete 1 shot as a test
and bench mark to see if we can build a team , to decide if the entire short should be made.
Well shot 1 has been completed relatively successfully.

I will keep monitoring the thread until a year of inactivity and CG-TALK officially
shuts the thread.

As my final attempt to revive this project, I will post this shot in the animation wip
section to see if we can get some animators. If that fails then it’s been fun.

Thanks to all that have participated , GREAT job done by all.
I’ve included the credits at the end , let me know if I left anything out
or made any errors.

Anybody that was involved with the final production of the shot.
Meaning if you are mentioned in the credits. You are free to use
this shot in your demo reels. Feel free to contact me if you
need to get it with a different compression or file format.

THANKS.

I was very happy to work with u and with such a great team I hope we can find some

#349

ya, omar, that looks awsome! if this ever gets seen to it’s finish then i’d say it would definatly be a top of the line short! me and my bucket are proud to be in the credits!! haha:thumbsup:

#350

Really nice work Boy1Da if only I could find some time to animate a bit more then right now I would love to take the place would be a pitty to let it die with such a nice start  but then again ain’t sure I have the skills would be a nice challenge though

anyways U did a really nice job

cheers

#351

You did amazing considering all the hurdles Omar. It seems nearly impossible to get a web team together that sees something this complex to it’s end. The shortfall on animation helpers even stalled the CGT sponsored mega collab ( you can only see that forum if you are a CGSociety fee member)

You guys did top work and the way you jumped in as team lead to get it as far as possible as you did…well, all I can say is KUDOS to you . :buttrock:

Your example, and the guys that stuck it out, took the collabs up a few notches even if this project doesn’t progress any further.

#352

Hello to all,

Just thought I would chime in as well and say what a fantastic job you did on the animation Omar, it really looks top knotch.

I think we are beginning to see the flaw in the collab section of the site  As animators are not usually required until the later stages they usually loose interest pretty quickly and then the project falls short of it’s goals.

I think Big O did a great job in trying to get the first scene of this animation finished and it really does look great. I am not sure if it will ever get finished but congratulations to everyone who helped out on the project and thanks to all the people who popped in to say hello and wish us all good luck.

Hopefully the animation forum will stir up some interest and move this thing forward. But if not then it has been a blast and roll on the next one

Until next time…

#353

Hi Omar,
This has been a very good effort. Online collabs by their nature are very hard to lead. Hats off to what you’ve achieved .

#354

No job was too small , as long as you did what you said you would and did it well, is all that matters.
This project had some of the best buckets, fences, flowers, mowers, and dog props I’ve ever seen :buttrock:

softdistortion, Thanks that means a great deal hearing it from you, a leader among leaders who
has walked the walk even longer then I have and still going strong.

donShole thanks looking forward to working with you some more in the future on Hardwired.

uuummm Jozef, I’m not sure I fully understood your post.
you might want to re-read it and elaborate a bit more .
Or maybe I’m just not reading it right,I should of stayed in school.

A round of applause to you all for helping it get to this stage so fast.:applause:

TO BE CONTINUED ???

#355

Woops hehe was an early morning for me . Revised it

Really nice work Boy1Da if only I could find some time to animate a bit more then right now I would love to take the place would be a pitty to let it die with such a nice start :D but then again ain't sure I have the skills would be a nice challenge though :)

anyways U did a really nice job

cheers

#356

Wow, I’m floored! Very nice job, all!

Side note: anybody know what happened to the Caveman short? Yeah, that’s me, the old scriptwriter guy. Sorry I dropped off the planet… but you guys did an awesome job with this one!

–Daniel

#357

Well the director of that project disappeared and never came back to this day.

So without a director it was a bit pointless to go further.
We had a good core team that still wanted to work on it.
The freak and I did most of the directing when the director was absent.
I wanted to take over the direction but I didn’t feel that it was my place to step in.
So I started my own project with a new story but the same open community concept.

I told the freak about my idea and we started to write the basic story.
I then asked omega 3D to help with the rigging and the team grew from there.

So here we all are … still looking for animators  :stuck_out_tongue:

#358

Hey omar, why don’t you send me a animatic… i will do a scene

#359

:wip: Okay, well it seems that we will try to push forward.

Even though no new animators have joined on so far.
A few of the original team members have stepped up to bat.
I will support them the best that I can.

Jozef, Jon and I hope Richard won’t chicken’ out because he is not a max user.

That’s not to say we are no longer looking for animators anymore, we still need people to help out.

Many shots have to be done.

I don’t have time to do any animatics at the moment.
So I’ve done up some quick story boards to guide you guys.

Pick a shot and let me know…

Sooooooo here goes once again ! GOOD LUCK !

Have fun and see if we can make each other laugh with our toony
animation attempts
