I have been side tracked by a freelance job I had to do…
So now I’m trying to get back at it.

I’ve started to do some compositing and breaking the shot down into layers.
Some sound design has also been started by Eilam aka “TOKOLOSH”.
Keep in mind it is a “WIP” so some adjustments will be made.

You can check out a Quicktime WIP here.

I’ve textured the lawn mower.
As well been populating the shot with more grass.
Next I will be doing the textures and placement of the junk pile.

nice work till here guys. Really impressive! Hope to see more of this project and yes final version too. Best wishes

#323

I did some work on the junk pile.
After I did the paint cans, I realized that the boy
will be blocking them in the shot. So I took them out.
I will try to put them in another shot.

In the compositing stage I will also put some blur
to add depth to the shot.

I’m not sure what I will be working on next.
Still no updates from the animators…
So I may try messing with animation for a bit
see what I come up with ? :curious:

#324

Very very pro looking.

Good luck with the animation stuff.

#325

ok amigo give it a try I`am sure u will make cool thing

#326

Wow, it’s getting better with every update!

#327

Thanks for your input guys

Well no word from the animators … so I had a go at it.
I made sure I watched all my Pixar DVDs before I started.
I don’t think it helped, but it was fun to watch some DVDs

Here is a link to the hardware render, 7 megs .wmv

The part where the boy freaks out, is supposed to be the
part where his mom yells at him to feed the dog…
Input is welcome.

#328

no crits u made it perfect keep going

#329

That’s a really good first pass. If you include a frame counter ( a habit I picked up from SD) in your render, it will be easier to point out specifics. The boy has good key poses, but he could be a bit snappier, quicker with have a few holds.

#330

Very good points donShole. I should probably use Quicktime as well…

Yea, I did it pretty quick so most of the animation is a bit random and I should spend more time
on making it look a bit more focused.

I may take a break and do some rendering and compositing then come back to
it with a clearer mind.

It’s really coming out pro guys. It’s inspiring work. Hope to see finished film soon.

I tweaked the boy animation a bit.

I tried to make it a bit more “snappy”
and put a few more pauses for better timing.

I made it into a Quicktime file and put the frame numbers on it.

I think I’m gonna have to move on to some other part of the shot.
Due to my lack of skills I don’t think I can get it much better at the animation.
If any max animators out there want to tweak what I’ve done so far,
just say the word and I’ll send you the file.

Not sure what I’ll do next…
Who would of figured it would of been so hard to do one shot.

Hey Boy1da,

Animation looks really good. Really waiting to see a good quality render to see how it really looks, but from what I see it looks like it will be good. So what happens after the ball rolls.

Well keep it up.

#335

A very bad dog animation walk cycle for your amusement.

Click here for the 1 meg .wmv file

I took some time to refine the skinning on the dog.
He can now lay down for the first shot.

#336

Nice job!

I liked more facial expressions of the first animation… there were more natural.

Dog cycle is pure and beautiful.

Do you have a storyboard?

#337

wow omar dude u are rocking as always I`am sure that u will get very cool results

#338

I concur!

#339

I think you should make the boy slap the ball instead of banging on the ground, i doubt the ball would roll that far by simply hitting the ground ;).

#340

I’ve done some more animation work on shot 1.
It is almost done, of course there are still a few things to tweak
here and there…

Here is a video file of the entire shot from start to end.

It is a hardware render, it’s going to take a while to render out all the layers
for the final. It will give you a good idea of what it will look like.
There is also a guest appearance of a model of “GEXTER the GECKO, GEX for short”
He is the critter that Psyk0 did for the “Stumpy the cave man” project.
The mushroom is also from that project made by The Freak.

Here are some still images of the shot of the dogs portion of the set.
With some more grass and stuff.

Here is a pic of Gexter on the mushroom if you click the image
you can see a V-ray render video test I did of his animation.

To answer some of the comments so far…

Rahakasvi: about the face animation , I felt that I had to push it a bit more
because of the meshsmooth when you render it, it tends to lose the subtle expressions.
but I will keep in mind what you said and may try to come to a balance of the both.

As far as story boards, the plan is only to work on one shot at a time
because it may not get past this first shot. from the looks of it this
may be the last and only shot due to the lack of animators, it may be
too much work for me to animate it all by myself.

Psyk0: Yea, it is supposed to appear that while the boy is hitting the ground
he hits the ball by accident causing it to roll away.
I guess it does not look that way in the animation, so I may have to change
it to him just slapping the ball, I’m just not sure if I can pull it off and his
arms are kind of short too LOL.

Thanks all for your input, comments are always welcome.
