Wow…no comment
Fetch | Cg Short.
Nice work! Don’t worry about it. It is a process. Glad the rig worked for you. I was getting sick of it … haha. Sorry I have not had any updates, I have been uber boggled with school/work/etc. I may be able to do some animation off and on. let me know if there is anything you needed quickly. Sorry Omar for the slowness of my stuff.
Peace.
Hi. I really liked the progress of the Fetch and I want to help somehow.
I noticed that no progress of backgrounds are done so I’m giving it a try.
http://divinefilms.fi/temp/background_fetch.jpg
It is background for some image found on thread (I painted a fence to see how it would look like). Clouds are painted by myself and could be better. Any suggestions on how to improve image will be welcomed.
Also if you like my work, better rendering of where background is needed would be nice.
Nice backdrop concept.
Do you use any 3D programs ?
It is a bit hard to say right now what is needed for the back drop.
Because we are not sure how much of it will be seen in the shots.
So that is the reason we haven’t done any work on it yet.
Seeing the final camera positions will help to determine how detailed we
will get with the backdrops.
As far as concepts go , it is okay to work on them,
It may work out better if you use 3ds max to block out the
stuff outside of the yard… that way things can be moved around.
But no big deal right now.
I’ve been trying to block out shot 2.
Just to give some more stuff for the animators to work on.
Ignore the bad poses and animation it is just to show the blocking
and movement of the camera.
It is supposed to be a shot of the dog pushing the ball with
his nose over to the boy. and the first time the boy throws the ball.
HERE IS THE LINK TO THE ZIP OF THE VIDEO.
u have nice planning but for some reason I think that the camera should be focusing on
the boy :wise:
You may have to elaborate a bit more on what you mean ?
Are you thinking of this shot in relation to shot 1 ?
Since shot one starts with the boy I figure it is best to start with the dog for shot 2…
I mean the camera should be focusing ont the boy while he is playing till the ball hit him
then turns to the dog
I understand what you are saying, why do you think that.
Don’t you think because we start the movie on the boy playing the game
and focus on him for awhile, it would be too much like the start of the movie.
It may feel a bit like we are repeating the same shot as the start ?
what do u think if we made the first shot on the background houses then to the boy ?
I mean we make the first shot background houses and the second shot is the boy
If the second shot is the boy, what is the thrid shot ?
My question is what are your reasons for the changes, how do these changes
help to tell the story better ?
The story is about a ball a boy and his dog.
Shot 1 shows the title, the ball then introduces the boy and his motive .
Shot 2 show the dogs motive and then sets up the problem.
Everything you see in the shot so far has a part to play in the over all story.
I am open to ideas, but please tell the reasons for the idea and why
you think it will help tell the story better ?
I just was imagining it and found it cool so I thought of sharing my ideas anyway now u know
what is in my mind and do what u see better ![]()

Thx
BOY1DA:
The background is almost full 3dsmax rendered via Vray, only clouds are painted with PSP.
I have no rush to do any renderings… so build your shots with time. Meanwhile I will improve the background details…
Looking awesome guys, it looks like it will be a very funny short :D. Don’t lose momentum! Keep going until it is done ;).
It’s been a bit quite in here the past week or 2.
I’m still very motivated , but just felt that I needed to give the animators
a chance to prove their skills and show some wips or something …
I posted the final rig and I also sent the main animators PM’s
to get started, but haven’t heard from them since
The modelers have done an outstanding job, so good that they kind of
put them selfs out of a job
LOL but will be back in action soon again.
My other project is in somewhat the same situation, animators are needed because
the modeling stage is pretty much done, and I’m not the best animator for the job.
But if push comes to shove I will step up as an animator.
I also wanted to give everybody that is going back to school a chance to get
back into the flow of doing school stuff …
So I will start the ball rolling again and post some wips soon.
Kudos Boyda…if anyone is wondering why some projects keep going…a spirit like that is why it happens. ![]()
Hi BOY1DA,
If you’re pressed for animators (in Hardwired that is), let me know. I don’t have max, but do have motionbuilder. I can only to a little at a time:), but I guess little by little is more than nothing.
