I don’t think it gets any better than this - awesome, breathtaking.

The most realistic cg human I’ve seen up to now. Great work.
However I do think the skin still looks a bit like wax.
If I cover her forehead when watching it looks better. Maybe the bump/displacement is a little too strong on the forehead.
Plus the eyes might be a little too clean.

Anyway great work and one of the very few women on cgtalk that actually are beautiful.

Daaaaaaaaamn this is goooood!! Thanks for the great tips on how you made the maps ect for this really helpful…

#92

i think you should use separate different maps for the eye lashes. they look identical.

other than that… INCREDIBLE JOB!

#93

Excellent! The skin looks very realistic!

#94

i can’t beleve it. at first i thought it was a painting and no. it’s 3d model. wow you have done an amaizing job. congrads.

#95

Beyond excellence.

My only problem is the white of the eyes looks “milky” and dark and perhaps too far apart and/or perfect mirrored.

But really outstanding. The cloth is perfect and skin texturing is excellent.

Overall: A++

Simply stunning detail!

If I wanted to render skin like the person who started this thread, does anyone know where I should start? Are there any tutorials that I can follow?

I know it involves subsurface scattering but I don’t know where to start.

I was looking at the “Subsurfacing 101” page and tried to click on the link
http://www.alias.com/eng/members/missing_link.shtml but it says it’s no
longer available.

Where would I need to go to download the shader?

great work …a liitle point…i think her eyes shoud be a little bit closer…

Or mayde I think should be…

#99

Holy cow!! This look so real! Congrats!!!

it looks very good indeed but (i dont know if it has been mentioned already) the fold in the cape looks unnatural and i dont really like the eyelashes. Otherwise, simply great!

The face is almost flawless. I don’t particularly like the headdressing, tough.

Still, 5 stars.

I checked out Mibus’s digg link and it’s really made me sad. People outside of the industry are extremely cruel to 3D in general and especially cgi humans. I’ve frankly come to expect that if you’ve never worked in the industry or with 3D in general then your point is pretty much mute. I would figure that a model of this level took Jonas over a 100 hours of focused work. However, if you have never tried a 3D human then you will never appreciate the difficulty in creating something to this level. I love how people compare this face with Final Fantasy characters, which is fine, but you are comparing what one man is able to do by himself now against what a team of professionals could do 6 years ago for the faces in Final Fantasy. People tend to overlook that it’s not just whether humans have improved in CG but that we can now be a one man team and create something pretty fantastic. I still believe that soon enough, someone will post a cg picture on another site and no one will know it’s cg (I believe I can fly! hehehe) It is simply so easy to stand outside of art and trash it whether it’s a 3D human or Pollock. It upsets me greatly, but I guess there is nothing you can do about it. Oh wellsky…

I like this Image!

Great work!

#104

Perfect! It is almost a real face.

I’d splash most folks on digg at their neck…Jonas, don’t listen to them, they don’t know, what they are talking.

Once I made a test, I took a shot of my friend, and posted the image on a similar “high” skilled forum. I was blown away by the comments, that the “character” head is out of proportion, the skin is too shiny, the bumps are overwhelmed, the bad lighting etc. I was laughing, and I’ve posted, that I didn’t mentioned, that it’s CG. I wrote them, that it’s pure evidence of the stupidity of those indiviiduals, who think they do know about CG and art, but not. I told them that it’s an actual photo of a guy, who is not fitting into the ideal proportions. One day later, the post, and my account was deleted…

So Jonas, believe us, it’s really good work, and outstanding.

Hello Jonas,

I think there’s no use in telling how much I love your work and this picture in particular.
It’s just beautifull, congrats !

Please give me an answer by mail. I’m sending you more pictures of my work.

Thanks and sorry if my english is bad
