Female Dwarf model/texture (possible rig in Houdini)

LATEST UPDATE:

Houdini 15 More Hair Testing

So this is a model i began in '10 for an hour or so. I always liked the model so i thought why not pick it up and finish it.

I have the basic mechanics of the body defined, i will be starting on the clothes, and topology.

I will be posting all images to CG Gallery so if you want to just browse all images in the future you can do it there.

Pretty darn good sculpting!
I can only imagine the lack of response here in the wip section is due to the fact that maybe most members are not comfortable with the subject matter. I would like to see more work from you.

#3

Thanks Kanga. Maybe you are right but i think it is because it was still early days, not much to comment on.

So i have gotten around to picking this model back up. Lots of work ahead, i hope i document it here decently. I still plan to texture and rig this in Houdini.

This is final look of the body with a look at the Clothes.

Teeth and tongue.

I’m working on retopology of the face next.

#5

So here is the face retopo. This is the base level (unsubdivided). Finals at 33k polys and is asymmetrical. Still need to do the UV’s and the body retopo but that should be relatively quick.

On the side im also working on my own custom blendshape node in Houdini so i might sculpt some shapes soon enough.

#6

All that boring topology is done now, just UV, some light displacement then onto the fine pore detailing.

Some finer work on the fingers and toes

#7

Base model is done. UV’s are complete, so now i can kinda branch out. I can make shapes, work on my custom blendshape solver, and like this post suggest, play with some hair.

Just a test.

Very interesting wip!
I was already liking this thread as it is but when you say “custom blendshape solver” you really grab my attention!
The model looks amazing. I can’t wait to see your rigging stage!

Subscribed…

Thanks guys.

I shouldn’t say solver since there is no feedback loop, but just a fast speedy deformer compare to Houdini’s native one. I’m no tech wiz but some simple math is all I need.

Here is an asset I have been working on. It won’t just benefit this character obviously.

Can’t get rid of a feeling that you used one of these girls for reference =). Especially with first haircut.

#12

@Tushkan : Haha Wow that is a kinda scary video, but nope, not my source. I have a ton of reference.

So its been a while but i have got back to working some more on this.

#13

wow, really nice! I can’t wait to see her completed

#14

@DarkMizu: Thanks but that might be a while.

Here is the Col/Diffuse. I’m gonna be working on Eyelashes and Eyebrows next.

#15

First pass on lashes and brows.

#18

Oh my goodness! Awesome job. You even added veins on the eyelids. I can’t wait to see her fully done.

#19

Thanks. Again nothing is final right now. Im still very green when it comes to texturing/rendering etc.

Here is a start on the hair, going be to doing a number of styles just because i am nowhere as good as i want to be with Hair styling/shading.
